How to get Cathy’s makeup look from Wuthering Heights
Is it just us, or is everyone lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling and dreaming about Wuthering Heights? And not the pick her up by the corset scene (I mean, that too), but the beauty. While there was a whole team of hair and makeup artists on set bringing the vision to life, Siân Miller is the hair and makeup designer behind these mesmerizing looks. From the windswept waves to the weathered (or should we say wuthered) flushed cheeks, Margot Robbie’s gorgeous visage is burned into our brain. So you know what that means…it’s time for a Wedding Chicks deep dive! And this is everything you’ll need to do it yourself:
The skin
It’s a movie, so of course she’s wearing foundation, concealer—the works. But what we love about her complexion in this movie is how sheer the makeup feels. It’s like she’s not wearing anything. Instead of packing on the layers, use a tinted moisturizer or a foundation that doubles as skincare. Oh, and don’t forget the freckles along the cheeks and across the bridge of the nose!
The cheeks
- CHANEL N°1 Lip & Cheek Balm in Berry Boost *This is currently sold out LITERALLY everywhere (wonder why 🤔) So a good dupe is the Merit Flush Balm Cream in color Apres-soft berry
- Rare Beauty in Happy and Hope that they literally sell in a gift set that may as well be called the Wuthering Heights collection
The key to this look is layering and placement. Instead of placing it on your cheekbone, place a little on the back of your hand and then use a beauty blender or your fingers to gently add it to the lower part of your cheek, like the part that gets a natural flush when you run across the moors or if Jacob Elordi would ever glance in your general direction. And instead of your usual contour, layer a bit more of the blush in the hollow of your cheek instead.
The Lips
We’ve never studied anyone’s lips so hard before. Like seriously, Margot is #blessed, but it’s a movie; she’s wearing something. Right. Right?!?! Of course she is. We were only able to find the tinted balm that they used, which [praise the beauty gods] is only $4.99—a true gift in this economy! But a lot of the tutorials we’ve watched suggest using a rose/mauve lipliner and then a brush to diffuse it.
The eyes
Ok, it’s like no one is talking about this part, but she’s wearing pink eyeliner…right?!? Ok, maybe not eyeliner but eyeshadow at least, so let’s compromise and say eyeshadow stick. There’s a gentle dusting across the entire lid, but the most dramatic deviation from our usual makeup routine is the generous application on the under-eye that gives her that just about to cry look in every scene. Now that that’s settled, here are two that come pretty close to what we see:
As far as the lashes go, we couldn’t find anything definitive. We’d almost say, ditch the mascara and go with a few well-placed falsies like these natural-looking clusters from Lashify.
The Brows
Sorry, 90s brows, but this movie saved us all from a dangerous relapse. Big beautiful brows are back (and hopefully to stay). So invest in a solid brow gel like this one to get the look.
You didn’t think we’d leave you hanging without a tutorial, right? Here are some of our favorites in three different skin tones.
Now go forth and drive us mad...
