Believe it or not, there is a formula for the perfect proposal. It should be a surprise, it should be intimate (whatever that means to you), it should be somewhere special (preferably somewhere scenic), and there should be someone there to document the big moment. This hubby-to-be hit all the marks and knocked it out of the park! This engagement shoot really captures the love between these two and we can't see what their wedding ensembles look like, because these fits are fabulous!

Though these photos by Azar Photography are high-fashion, they are still warm and full of love. Distinct Event Planning helped plan this gorgeous engagement session at the Hotel Leveque to reflect the couple and set the tone for their upcoming wedding. HOW THEY MET

We met in the same orientation class for our previous employer in 2017. We ended up working in the same department which is where we found out we were both originally from Akron, OH. We became good work friends and from there we formed a relationship later down the line.

I knew Jeremy was the one when he sacrificed his time to sit and help me study for my nursing licensure exam. This was something that I had struggled with and he pushed me to get it done and helped me to stay consistent every step of the way. Jeremy knew I was the one when he realized that he wanted to share his time with me no matter what he was doing he enjoyed having me there with him.

POPPING THE QUESTION

Jeremy told me to plan for a weekend in Cincinnati for a birthday party for his best friend. We had drinks and dinner on a rooftop beforehand. Then we walked across the Roebling bridge to kill time and get some cool photos. As we were walking there was a woman taking photos on the bridge. She approached us and asked if she could get a picture of us for her page. We agreed and I took an individual shot first, what I did not know was that Jeremy was behind me in the photo down on one knee waiting to propose. As I turned around to get his attention, I saw him with the ring out and realized this had all been set up for this very moment. I was completely surprised and overjoyed! The photographer was there to capture this moment for us so that we would have this memory forever.

THE VISION

Our vision for our engagement shoot was a classy grown and sexy vibe. Our wedding planner, Lucretia Williams, took the lead and curated a chic and swanky shoot to match our vision. She pulled together an amazing team of vendors who made magic happen. My fashion stylist and her team designed my custom blue gown making an Old Hollywood Glam statement. Jeremy’s sleek black suit was the perfect complement to our elegant style.

We started our photo session at the Ohio Statehouse to capture the essence of our city life. We were able to capture some amazing motion shots which really portrayed how we interact with one another. We then moved the shoot to the very chic Hotel Leveque which gave us classy-vintage vibes. It felt like we were filming a movie, the boutique hotel made us feel like we were living in a different era. Our design team and photographer really helped to bring our theme to life!

LET THE PLANNING BEGIN

So far wedding planning has been fun but stressful, all the little details that go into planning can make your head spin! We have had help with several aspects of the wedding which helps take some of the load off. Wedding planning has allowed us more time to spend with each other; learning about our different tastes and making them work together. We are so excited about spending the rest of our lives together and look forward to enjoying this day with our family and friends. We can't wait until we can dance together down the Soul Train line at the reception as Mr. & Mrs!
