A BOHO Styled Shoot with A Larger Than Life Floral Installation

So often, couples let the venue dictate their wedding design or spend months searching for a venue that fits their dream wedding, but it doesn't have to be that way! Instead, find a minimalist space that you can transform into your dream wedding (with a little help from your vendors, of course ;-)-that's what this couple did! This modern styled shoot is the perfect mix of boho and mid-century modern. Oh, and did we mention that there is an 11-foot tall floral installation...what's not to love?

The Highline Rochester was the perfect elegant blank space for this inspiration to come to life. THE SPACE

This stylish modern ballroom inspired a special team of wedding pros to create a whimsical dream wedding that left everyone speechless. The Highline Rochester was originally just a black-box performing arts center. Alyssa and Jess, the owners, saw past the dark interior and transformed the space entirely with many coats of paint with the help of our two models.

Our groom, Cameron, was the lead contractor on the renovation project and his girlfriend Jess, our bride, helped with design aspects and details. Alyssa knew she wanted everything neutral with pops of mid-century elements. Every couple’s dream canvas. This space can become anything you want it to be, and maybe someday will become Jess and Cameron’s real wedding venue! This wedding inspiration was our dream vision of the décor that this space craved.

THE DESIGN

Wedding ceremonies at The Highline Rochester are best held in front of the centrally located window. With the gorgeous natural light streaming through, the girls at Kittelberger Florist knew that it had to be framed with flowers. This installation piece hangs 11’ in the air and is about 17’ wide! With bright pops of fuchsia and coral with tropical foliage accents, it creates the most romantic garden space possible. It took a team of four a total of six hours to put this installation together.

With such an extravagant backdrop, simple accents paired perfectly, and a rug aisle brought major boho vibes to the look. Jodi at Revival Rentals had all the options anyone could think of and created the perfect pathway for our couple.

Jess wore the beautiful Jackson gown by Rue de Seine from Lovely Bride in Rochester, NY. Cameron wore a sophisticated custom-made navy suit by Adrian Jules which gave great contrast to the bold florals.

READY, SET, FLIP

Elegant event space adorned with flowers and hanging lights

Alyssa and Jess thought of everything when designing their space at The Highline. The curved brick wall already in the architecture of the building creates the coziest of nooks for lounge seating next to the bar. Jodi from Revival Rentals brought a beautiful white modern couch paired with bright accent chairs to accentuate the floral. Along with her blush-toned backdrop to give a softness and serious mid-century feel to the space.

Couples…the number one advice any wedding pro will give you is to repurpose everything you possibly can from ceremony to reception. The floral installation that was perfect for a romantic ceremony is just as beautiful paired with a sweetheart or head table. Simple candlelight and florals by Kittelberger Florist were just enough to decorate the table without taking away from the installation piece. Floral accents and large floor pieces by Kittelberger Florist complimented the features of the space perfectly.

Directly to the left of this space is a beautiful bar set up with curved gray bricks and personalized shelving in the back. Each couple chooses what to feature on these shelves to best represent themselves.

For this setup, Jess wore the Kenzo dress by Rue de Seine from Lovely Bride. The cutaway midriff and embroidered puff sleeves along with a beautiful braided hair design by Cheri Marie Salon was the total package for this boho bride. This dress, those boots, that flower crown, and that man bun all combined to create such a wildly fun whimsical wedding.

Don’t be afraid to have bold colored linens either! McCarthy Tents & Events was able to take the color palette from the floral design and pair a velvet tablecloth, fresh green napkins, and gold accented chargers and flatware for the dreamy combo on this head table. This is the perfect space for a cozy dinner before entertaining guests and not to mention a great backdrop for toast photos.

A BIG FINISH

The vestibule area at The Highline has a ton of personality with its curved wall of windows and is a great spot to customize with accents that carry through the theme of the event. It’s the first thing guests will see, so make sure to give them a warm welcome!

And just when it seems like things couldn’t get any better, the last three images of this shoot prove that painting the outside of The Highline black was the way to go. The surprising contrast from exterior to interior is everything the space needed.
