How To Mix And Match Your Moody Wedding Decor

Elegant wedding reception table setting with dark chairs

Stephanie Teague Events is a designer after our own hearts! Mix-and-match is one of our very favorite wedding trends and when we see a reception execute it to perfection we can't help but get excited! Hold up, what is mix and match? Fair question, the idea that your wedding day decor mixes up the design a bit by pairing unique elements together to give them a new look!

Well if you are still scratching your head on the concept, just keep scrolling. Not only does Stephanie Teague do a great job explaining, but the concept is also beautifully illustrated in the photographs by Liz Zimbelman Photography. You'll find all of these and even more in the full gallery

From Stephanie Teague Events

As a coordinator and designer in the industry for almost 10 years, I have done my fair share of blush and ivory weddings. Even still, I get asked to design this type of wedding all the time. While I think these weddings are always beautiful, I am secretly hoping for those couples that want to use color, texture and luxurious fabrics. The inspiration for this shoot stemmed from this desire to have the freedom to use colors that many don’t associate with a wedding. I was striving to create images that were moody but not dark and gloomy. I wanted the images to look like fine art.

Play With Options

Another thing that sets this shoot aside from others is I wanted to have a huge variety of photos for publication as well as for the vendors. So when I was making selections for the pieces I wanted to use I opted to have many options. As you’ll see in the pictures, I had 4 different types of chairs. I had 4 different napkins, 2 different runners, and full-length linen to throw into the mix. I had Paperie table number and place cards but also some marble ones. I had two different brides with two different looks in two very different dresses. I loved having the ability to change things up. In the weddings I design for my clients, I often encourage them to change up their tables. Every table should not be a copycat of the one next to it. I love to mix up linens and décor to create interest around the room.

Who This Is For

I hope that you fall in love with this shoot the way I have. I think that many of these images would be something a bride or groom would stop and want to look at because they are a bit out of the norm.

All services are donated by the vendors for the shoot and many are service-based vendors so it is hard to put a price on those services. If a client wanted a wedding that looks like these photos I would estimate that to be about $50K (if they went with a venue like The Kimpton Sawyer, beautifully designed tables and decor, couture wedding gown, etc).
