From Megan McGreevy

This styled wedding shoot was inspired by still life paintings of floral from earlier centuries. I thought to myself I would love to see more giant, colorful, rich bouquets at weddings. It all started with the idea and style of the baroque floral still-life paintings. Baroque art is characterized by great drama, rich, deep color, and intense light and dark shadows. I wanted to really focus on the floral with decorative gold pieces added.

I then wanted to add golden fruit and incorporate that in the décor and cake as well. We needed a venue that could carry the style of elegance and luxury. The fireplaces at the Fox Chapel golf club, especially the one with a still life floral painting about it were perfect backdrops for this shoot. The main area where the table-scape and cake were set up is an indoor atrium with an all-glass ceiling.

Inspired at first by the lavish, extravagant, bold flowers in a painting. This shoot embodies opulence and beauty in every last detail.

The Flowers

The Floral was one of my main focal points when putting this shoot together. Our vision was big, bold, beautiful bouquets and centerpieces. We had two bouquets and two centerpieces. We created a large, elongated bouquet, heavy with blooms and rich colors. The centerpieces mimic this idea and the inspiration from baroque still life paintings of lavish floral.

Besides the colorful centerpieces on the two tables we had in the atrium, we wanted a busy table with lots of glass where and golden elements. The menus had hand created gold leaf on the edges. We wanted to exude luxury, beauty, and elegance in the chargers and place settings.

The Dresses

We had three different wedding dresses modeled. I wanted to make sure to include gowns that had sleeves and a lot of lace and detail. The modest feel of the high neckline in the lace dress gives that historic, and old world feel. We wanted elegant and over the top romance to be exuded in the bridal gowns
