Incorporating Cottagecore Into Your Big Day With No Regrets

Woman with flowers and white dress, beautiful composition

Being locked inside indefinitely brought about a cottagecore resurgence reminiscent of '60s and 70's fashion. While this style was fun to play with in the comfort of your own home, incorporating it into your wedding may seem a little too extreme. We're here to help! While we usually encourage couples to stay away from the trendy and lean into timeless, the effortless chic of cottagecore fits in surprisingly well with the new spike in micro weddings and elopements. When it comes to fashion, look to the prairie-style silhouettes and textiles while keeping the colors safe in the neutral zone. Use your florals and paper goods to incorporate your color palette and get as whimsical with that as you'd like!

These bright and tranquil photos by Esther Funk Photography will give you all the peace and love vibes. Stone House Creative designed all of these whimsical florals that seem to have a life of their own. GOOD VIBES ONLY

Blush and white will always be good...but for some of us, color is better. Let’s welcome cheery vibes back to weddings with this crisp inspiration shoot with a twist of mod ’70s inspired femininity. A cheerful, playful palette sings of summertime and all those good vibes that we're constantly seeking to relive once the dog days are over. Set against crisp whites, we asked the color to do all the talking in this design: coral, orange, yellow, lavender, and peach come together to tell a story of a relaxed, casual atmosphere that would be perfect for an intimate wedding.

HOW TO INCORPORATE YOUR COLOR PALETTE

The best way to give your guests a taste of what your wedding has in store for them is with your invitation suite. Robin from Robin Egg Blue Design wanted to preview the playful color palette without giving it all away, tying in modern curved lines and layering multiple shades of paper that would peek out from the clear vellum envelope.

There's no better way to bring the color than with flowers. A scaled-back bouquet (in size only, not in happiness!) packs major punch with garden roses, zinnias, ranunculus, and (the friendliest flowers of all) daisies. Floral and event designer Stone House Creative brought the same energy to the tablescape and designed a table that we would love to be a guest at. Restrained place setting details allow the flowers and candlelight to shine, and of course, never shy away from color.

AN ALL-WHITE WARDROBE

Keeping the playful feels rolling, we worked with a local clothing designer to custom design her pieces in all white. The feminine details of our bride's outfits from local designer Maison Corazon, coupled with unique styling, lends a mod vibe. We chose a mini jumper with a crisp blouse featuring tridimensional flowers, and a sophisticated crop top with puffed sleeves paired with high rise, wide-leg pants. Hair and makeup were kept natural with a bit of that mod twist–long 60's waves, and a clean cat-eye.

TOO PRETTY TO EAT

The cake from Jenna Rae Cakes is truly a showstopper and would be an incredible focal point for any wedding, large or small. With both hand-painted and multi-dimensional sugar blossoms in coral, orange, and lavender, we're not sure anyone could actually cut into this beauty. A cake table is not a place for restraint, though, so fill that right up with more blooms!
