The Venue

Amidst a pre-World War 1 assemblage of industrial buildings on Vancouver Island, lies a brick and mortar structure known as the Machine Shop. With its incredibly high timber framing and masonry walls, the Machine Shop, part of the E&N Roundhouse, is truly a unique venue that offered the perfect backdrop for an industrial editorial with a modern twist.

Incredibly inspired by this blank canvas and its potential, Victoria-based photographer Kim Jay, and florist Natalia Solis of Ingrid Rose Floral Artistry, scheduled a creative project for early Fall 2018, and began to form a team of talented local vendors to bring their concept to life. With a fall palette of matte black, blush, and autumnal hues, the editorial was primarily focussed on highlighting the century-old space with moody colour, and modern bridal fashions, provided by Lavictoire and Blush Bridal Boutique

The Decor

The Wise Co. artfully curated and styled the tabletop design, in addition to adding their fine, ultra-modern touch with incredible bespoke styling accents, furniture, and a keen eye for design. With a crisp matte black cake carefully crafted by Laura of Schur to Please, and jewellery by Emma Glover Design, the final pieces of the puzzle were nearly complete with the powerhouse hair and makeup team comprised of Artistry by Alexa, and Hair by Ashley Osmond. Petite Toile Studio added the flourishing touch with their invitation suite, and Borrowed and Blue Events offered a welcome organizational element to this group of creatives.

Collectively, our team of vendors created and executed a breathtaking display of their work, honouring the space itself as well as their craft in the finest way. We are so proud to share this collection of images with you.
