And, while it may look like this elopement was set in an eastern fairytale land, you'll never believe where this shoot actually took place...Seattle, Washington! This shoot is dripping with charm and cherry blossoms and is the perfect inspiration for your spring wedding!

'TIS THE SEASON (CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASON, THAT IS)

The cherry blossom season is a perfect time for us to honor a happy marriage of eastern and western cultures. Our model couple is of Japanese, German, and American background, who are deeply in love with each other as well as each other’s cultures. We wanted to include traditional elements from the Asian culture while seamlessly blending in the western elegance, all made possible against the backdrop of those surreal and romantic pastel blooms during the Seattle springtime.

In 1976, a gift of 1,000 cherry trees was given to Seattle by Japan's former Prime Minister, Takeo Miki, in commemoration of America's bicentennial and the long friendship between the people of Japan and Washington state. Our shoot took place during the Seattle cherry blossom festival that is celebrated annually to honor this special friendship. Under this sensational historical context, our couple’s love story was an even more wonderful testimony to the beauty of multicultural harmony and unity.

A BEAUTIFUL UNION

For their post-marriage celebration, our vendor team designed a tea ceremony style picnic that infused the best of multiple cultures - European inspired Charcuterie board, traditional American wedding cake with origami pleats and cherry blossom sugar flowers, tea with elements of oriental philosophy and artistic beauty, a cherry blossom Rose wine made in the heart of California, and last but not least, a custom design macaron with the Kanji character of “double happiness” printed on top.

This shoot was especially meaningful to us because it is made possible with an amazing team of all Asian vendors, and we want to stand together in light of the recent AAPI sentiment to inspire harmony with people, respect for different cultures, and purity of heart and mind. We want to show that beauty and love can be found in every culture and race, and the miracles of the world lies in the diversity of its people.
