A Few of Their Favorite Things-A Sunny Farmhouse Wedding in Little Rock

Elegant wedding reception venue with floral arrangements

Modern farmhouse weddings have to be one of our favorite new trends. With all of the charm of farmhouse architecture, a coat of fresh white paint and minimalist finishings on the interior act as a blank canvas, making it ideal for really any wedding design. By bringing in their favorite things (like a street taco bar!), this couple truly made the space their own.

POPPING THE QUESTION

Excited groom stands by beautiful wedding floral arch

Seth, an avid duck hunter and electrician, created sparks with his darling chick, Erin Cook, a recent audiology graduate, when he proposed to her in Ruston, Louisiana. Seth surprised Erin by driving down from their home in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ruston earlier than expected one afternoon for a planned trip. He immediately told her to get in the truck and that he wanted to take her out to Lincoln Parish Park. They walked out to the dock as they had done in memories past when Erin spent her first year of grad school there. They started to reminisce on the past few years in Ruston and how far they had come. Seth said, "I don't want you to graduate as a Cook," then got down on one knee. “After eight years together, it was absolutely beautiful and perfect,” explained Erin looking back on that moment.

THE BIG DAY

Erin and Seth were wed at Grandeur House in Little Rock, Arkansas where southern hospitality meets garden-party style. This adorable farmhouse is situated on a meadow-lined property where natural elements and wildlife abound. This day was nothing short of tranquility as the autumn breeze rolled in under the moody skies.

MAKE IT PERSONAL

Planner, Kaitie Gill with Sailboat Weddings, says of Seth and Erin’s wedding design, “Their color palette, a personal favorite, consisted of shades of pinks, deep reds, and ivory tones-perfect for a September celebration. They also incorporated small elements of their personalities, which truly helps make a wedding design unique, such as Seth’s love of duck hunting. Not only did his groom’s cake reflect his favorite hobby, but he even wore a bow tie made from beautiful duck feathers. Erin and Seth even surprised guests with a flash mob that their families had practiced prior to the wedding to Whitney Houston’s, 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', to open up the dance floor. It was definitely a moment to remember for guests!”

The couple’s caterer, Vibrant Occasions Catering, shared their menu with us, another favorite for the couple-tacos! Their dinner menu included a street taco bar whereby guests were greeted by uniformed chefs at a fun, interactive station serving street tacos with slow-simmered shredded beef taco meat, marinated grilled chicken tossed with colorful peppers and onions, juicy, tender, crispy-edged pieces of savory shredded pork just waiting to be tucked into warm tortillas and served with a chimichurri sauce. For side dishes, guests had options of Mexican street corn and black beans served with cheese dip and salsa.
