Wedding in Tulum that shows just how easy it is to include your dog

dsc_2281

Ellen and Sahachel met at a high school Halloween party back in 2014 where they started talking and quickly discovered that they shared the same birthday. They ended up talking the entire night, and it quickly felt like love at first sight. Fast forward almost a decade, and the two were saying “I do” in the middle of a jungle, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Ellen and Sahachel always knew that they wanted to get married in Tulum because they loved how romantic, peaceful, and magical it felt. Planners from The Party Studio & Co. suggested the perfect venue, and the bride and groom-to-be instantly fell in love. Tucked deep into the jungle, far from the crowds, the serene and private energy was just what the two wanted. Captured by Soul Lovers, this luxury destination wedding is a must-see, particularly because the couple's adorable husky was a major part of the day!

Destination wedding planning process

The wedding planning process was a really fun process for Ellen and Sahachel. They flew down to Tulum a few times for tastings and venue visits. Each time, their planners made them feel like family.

Bridal inspo: jungle princess

Ellen wore a mermaid-style gown from Velum Hermosillo with a corset bodice and 3D flowers, making her feel like a jungle princess.

Dressing the groom for Tulum

Sahachel wore a beige tuxedo with brown details and no tie. It suited him perfectly and looked incredible against the Tulum setting.

Pre-wedding DIY date night

Sahachel and Ellen even made their own menus and invitations together during DIY date nights that made it all more special.

One way to calm any nerves

The wedding day was pure magic! Ellen was able to feel calm and enjoy every moment thanks to the amazing team they had that took care of every last detail. Nerves hit, however, when they did their private first look, but that intimate and unforgettable moment made them fall in love all over again.

Ceremony inspo: jungle luxury

The ceremony felt deeply personal. The officiant, Nadia, told the bride and groom's love story, which made everyone (including them!) laugh and cry. Ellen and Sahachel stood beneath an arc full of white flowers, surrounded by jungle greenery and candlelight. Their vows were heartfelt, and though they were nervous, it went perfectly. They opted for a sand ceremony, which created a moment that felt sacred and magical.

Reception style: boho-glam

The reception was an absolute boho-glam dream. Lush flowers, soft candlelight, elegant decor, and the jungle wrapped around the entire space. The tables were set up in two long rows, filled with blooms, and they had a pool at the center reflecting all of the twinkling lights.

Custom menu of the couple's favorites

The couple served aguachile, delicious canapés, steak for the main course, and cheesecake for dessert, thanks to MUMO. Instead of a traditional cake, they had a champagne tower that sparkled as they poured.

Their baby husky stole the show

Ellen and Sahachel's reception entrance included their precious husky baby Zuki (who totally stole the show), and we had little touches everywhere that represented our life and love, including photos of their two dogs, Zuki and Zeus.

Picture-perfect first dance

Their first dance was to "Until I Found You" by Stephen Sanchez. It ended with Sahachel lifting Ellen up, just like in a movie. Ellen, in particular, is an introvert, and she always worried about being the center of attention but being surrounded by people who truly love them made her feel so at ease.

Yes, something will inevitably go wrong

Of course, things didn’t go perfectly, and that’s what made it all so memorable! Sahachel lost his vows and had to improvise, and Ellen's wedding band went missing (only briefly!) during the ceremony. But honestly? None of it mattered. It made the couple laugh, and it reminded them to be present and enjoy every second.

After-the-fact advice

"If we could give any advice to future couples planning a destination wedding, it would be: Pinterest will be your best friend. Save everything that inspires you. And make it you. Whether that means having your dog there, skipping traditions, or DIY-ing elements, those are the special touches that will make your day feel deeply personal and unforgettable. We went into this wedding hoping for a beautiful day, but what we got was so much more: a day that was completely and wholeheartedly us. And we wouldn’t change a thing."
