Bright And Colorful Wedding With A Delicious Nod To The Couple’s Hispanic Heritage

Rustic cabinet decorated with flowers and plants in an archway setting

Whether it's a dance, an ensemble, or a religious rite, heritage often plays a role in a wedding. At its heart, a wedding is a tradition, one that is constantly evolving with an ever-changing world, but it is a tradition nonetheless. Acknowledging heritage in your wedding is also a great way to make your families feel seen and included. That being said, the acknowledgment doesn't need to be overt, it can be a subtle nod. This couple used their Hispanic heritage as a jumping-off point for their entire wedding design. From the Spanish architecture in their venue to the bay leaves and papaya in their florals, these touches worked together to paint a picture of the couple and celebrate where they came from and where they are going.

CELEBRATING HERITAGE

Andrea and Paul met in college. They were introduced by mutual friends and from that moment on, Paul was smitten with Andrea's effortless confidence. They were inseparable since the day they met! From the time they got engaged and started planning, they knew they wanted a unique wedding venue that would reflect their Hispanic heritage. When they found Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado Canyon, they knew it was the perfect venue for their friends and family to gather and celebrate their love!

Rancho Las Lomas is a private estate surrounded by gardens and beautiful oak trees. It’s a beautiful oasis tucked into the canyons. There are bungalows scattered throughout the property. The buildings have been restored using recycled materials such as old doors, windows, and tiles. The hand-painted tile murals were brought over from Portugal and the street lamps come from Pasadena and are over 100 years old! The property has a unique California Spanish vibe, which was perfect for their wedding style.

A DELICIOUS COLOR PALETTE

Festive wedding table setup with vibrant flowers and fruits

Instead of going with traditional florals, they chose a bright and fun color palette and had fruit and Mexican papaya scattered throughout the tables to add texture. The bouquet was comprised of Dahlias, Peonies, Combo roses, Ranunculus, Lisianthus, dried bunny tails, and Bay leaves. Every floral arrangement was completely unique; their florist, Foxtail Florals, really killed it on the vision. There were different colored goblets, the napkins were bright blue velvet, and the menus were printed in a beautiful yellow hue. The lounge furniture they chose had a Spanish coastal vibe and the table numbers were painted onto Mexican tiles.

A TOUCHING CEREMONY

They had a really beautiful and heartfelt ceremony followed by an epic dance party of a reception. In lieu of giving their guests favors, the couple chose to donate to an animal rescue that was super close to their heart. The couple also chose to do a candle lighting ceremony. There were two smaller candles that were lit by their mothers which the couple used to light one larger candle to represent the merging of their two families.

SOME QUICK THINKING

Due to some unexpected heavy rains, the planning team worked really hard to install a last-minute tent that would not compromise their amazing design efforts. With some creative thinking by Stylish Details Events and Foxtail Florals, the wedding went off without a hitch and was captured by an amazing photo and video duo! It just goes to show that hiring excellent vendors who are able to work on their feet for your wedding is essential.
