Fuchsia and blue wedding with brilliant bougainvillea installations
We love a classic wedding design that's not afraid of color, and this Dallas wedding is the perfect example. Every last detail–timeless, but boring? Absolutely not! The groom wore a tux, but ditched black for blue. The bride wore a strapless ballgown, but the neckline was asymmetrical. Their invitation suite leaned into a popular sky blue and peach color palette with toile details, but it was cut into fun shapes! Seriously, this wedding is a masterclass in design flow and cohesiveness; we could go on and on. But, we know you're really here for these gorgeous photos by Brett Heidebrecht, so go ahead keep scrolling, but take notes 😉!

their love story
Ours is a modern love story. We met on Hinge in the early spring of 2022. I thought Austin was just hilarious! It took us three weeks of talking to meet in person because at the time I lived in Austin and he lived in Dallas! I think my parents were a little confused at first, but once they met Austin, they didn’t care how I met him; they just didn’t want me to ruin it! Austin’s from the Midwest, and my entire family is from the outskirts of Chicago and Nebraska, so it truly was a Midwestern match made in heaven, but too funny we found each other in one of the biggest cities in the US. I love our midwestern roots mixed with our big city life and love for travel, dogs, friends, and our families. He is genuinely my better half, and I’m so lucky to be his wife.
the vision: coastal spring party
Having grown up in Dallas and attended SMU, I knew it would be fun to keep things local. It meant bringing together all my Kappas from SMU and all of Austin’s Midwest family to Dallas. We knew we could do a wedding right in my hometown. We also knew we were going to build our life together in Dallas, so it made sense to show our friends our home base! I wanted guests to have the most fabulous weekend of parties that felt like a taste of Texas, but upscale and sophisticated luxury. None of it could have been possible without the brilliance of Julian Leaver & Sarah. They truly took a cobbled-together color board and lightweight vision and brought it to life in a way that I could have never imagined. I wanted guests to feel very taken care of, like they didn’t need to spend too much time coordinating where and when to be, but they knew that transportation was simple and food and beverage would be top-tier everywhere they went. It was frankly all about the guests to us!
Of all the indecision I had at the beginning of our planning time, I knew I really wanted a massive tree in the middle of the bar area when folks entered. I wanted the reception at Rosewood Mansion to feel like a cozy backyard Nancy Meyers movie, like we were just having a backyard spring party. Julian and Sarah delivered beyond my expectations. We used banquette seating along the back and unique chairs at each table to make it feel more residential. I just loved the backdrop of our stage. It became a massive installation of bougainvillea that brought my hopes of a coastal California look! Everything about it really came together beautifully.
the stationery
Where do we even start with this adorable stationery suite by MF Creative Designs? From the perfectly curated color palette to the Western-infused details and modern shapes, we simply can't get enough!
the escort cards
During cocktail hour, guests made their way to the beautifully constructed bookshelf where they could find their name on playfully shaped escort cards. And what a perfect callback to the invitation suite!
the fashion
While this wedding is certainly timeless, can we say how happy we are that the couple stepped outside the box a bit when it came to their ensembles? Jennifer stunned in a Romona Keveza ball gown with a chic, asymmetrical draped neckline. She accessorized the look with a veil, voluminous overskirt, and white satin pumps for the ceremony, and then switched things up by removing the skirt and veil for the reception. Austin sported a deep navy tuxedo for the ceremony, and then he, too, switched it up with a white dinner jacket for the reception.
words of wisdom from a happy bride
The planning process with Julian and Sarah was so thoughtful, so deliberate, and fun. Their planning process gave me the opportunity to start with one idea and then quickly realize that springtime in Dallas meant a totally different look and feel. They were gracious about my 180-degree turn and helped bring to life my vision with vibrant colors, textures, and things I hadn’t thought would be possible to integrate. What I loved is that when we started, I didn’t know what I wanted, and they were gracious to help me navigate with ‘start with what you don’t like’ and then we’ll have a few things remaining. That’s exactly how this came together!
the cake
The couple cut into a chic, three-tiered white wedding cake decorated in fondant and satin ribbon. Inside revealed a classic yellow cake with strawberries and cream filling.
the after party
Now that all the pomp and circumstance was out of the way, it was time to party, so the couple broke out the wig wall. Yes, the wig wall! Guests could choose from a myriad of wig colors and playful accessories like sunglasses and hats, and it's clear that everyone had a great time.
