Bride and groom exchanging vows at wedding ceremony

This colorful Caribbean-inspired wedding is sure to put a smile on your face. Despite having to reschedule three times, this couple didn't let COVID bring them down. Magenta, orange, yellow, and a stunning emerald green make up the color palette that is brought to life in the florals and on a custom printed dance floor! From the vibrant outdoor ceremony to the grand ballroom reception, this wedding is a feast for the eyes.

Lux Lifestyle Events played a critical role for this couple as they navigated the ever-changing waters of the pandemic. Together with Flowers By Sandra, they brought their vision to life. When they found Lavan Catering And Events, they knew immediately it was the right venue for them, mostly because of the ballroom! These photos by DLC Innovation are so colorful and full of joy. MUSICAL DATES

We moved our wedding twice as we dealt with COVID regulations, and as a result, we ended up getting married on our 6th dating anniversary. This was the original date we wanted but the venue did not have the date. Then we had to change it again anyway due to COVID, and then again. That's when we were able to get our dream date a year later. Also, our tropical wedding colors used green as a base and our first date was St. Patrick's day. Funny how that happened.

THE BEST ADVICE

Get a planner! Even with a planner you still have to own aspects of the wedding. Give yourself ample time to figure out the details. It is all actually on your time. Fellas, it is your wedding day too, so that means you have to speak up and help out! You are there to support your future partner! Understand that you both have strengths that will help you in the planning process. Focus on your strengths and let your partner know where you can excel for the most success. And pass on all your weak points to the planner. You have to be able to trust them, or you might as well plan it yourself. Most of all, enjoy this time together to plan your big day! A day that is a celebration of how much you both love and cherish each other and want to make the commitment to spend the rest of your life with them. We hired Melisa Brown and her team to plan our event. We couldn’t have made a better choice. Melisa did a lot of the heavy lifting in the planning process that lasted over a year and a half! Our engagement was long due to COVID, but we ultimately enjoyed a longer planning process. The pressure was not as high as it would have been, had we had a shorter planning process.

A CARIBBEAN INSPIRATION

Elegant wedding couple shares a loving moment on the dance floor

The wedding was always going to be in South Florida. Christa and her mother both searched for the right venue for the occasion. After a few trips down to South Florida, we decided on Lavan Catering And EventsLavan had both a beautiful courtyard as well as a beautiful ballroom. Even just seeing the ballroom plain was gorgeous. With Christa being from a Jamaican background, having a wedding in South Florida as the backdrop, we built off our vibrant personalities with our Caribbean tropical elegance theme. The color palette was tropical and eclectic. We took our guests on a destination wedding to South Florida and the Caribbean. Our union also displayed our Messianic Jewish and Christian backgrounds. We were married by a Rabbi under a chuppah. He was able to make our ceremony even more perfect! Our ceremony was a blend of both of our Jewish and Christian backgrounds, with a bit of modern fun and flair.

THE PLAYLIST OF A LIFETIME

Newlyweds embrace under a shower of sparks at their wedding celebration

Our wedding was going to be THE party of all parties. We know our way around a good party, so our reception was no different. Whenever we heard a song that seemed to embody the spirit of our wedding, I (Alex) put it on a wedding playlist that I was curating throughout the engagement, really our entire relationship. I passed a few of these songs to our DJ who took them and created an awesome set. I was not familiar with soca or reggae music but became a huge fan. Our first dance was to a song called “Lighting”, by a new reggae artist named Mortimer. This song is a perfect fit for our love and it reels you into the subtle moments that remind me of how I continually fall in love with Christa.
