the vibe: city chic

Zamara and Ekaette’s wedding was the perfect balance of intimacy, modern style, and tradition, set in the heart of Washington, DC. With help from Velada Events, their day unfolded across two stunning venues: the chic, contemporary Fathom Gallery on 14th Street and the stylish Dirty Habit, creating quintessential city vibes from start to finish. With a neutral ivory and green color palette, the couple embraced a minimal yet elevated design aesthetic. Surrounded by their closest loved ones, Zamara and Ekaette exchanged vows in a romantic setting that felt intimate yet unforgettable, with blue skies as their backdrop for the commitment they made that day. Thoughtful floral touches were paired with sleek details, allowing the romance of candlelight to set the tone for their reception dinner. The atmosphere was both modern and timeless, highlighting the couple’s vision of an elegant yet approachable wedding. The ceremony itself was a highlight—stunning, heartfelt, and filled with emotion. Their wedding is a beautiful reminder that love shines brightest when personal style and cultural heritage intertwine.

vow books

Each of the brides surprised the other with a hand-crafted keepsake booklet on their wedding morning, inscribed with a heartfelt letter. They also had matching vow books made. This is a detail that so often goes overlooked. And we know you don't need one more thing to add to your wedding shopping list, but, in our opinion, vow books are a MUST!

In their separate bridal suites, the two prepared for the day ahead, surrounded by family and love. Then they saw each other for the first time and sipped cosmos and champagne together before the rest of the festivities began.

the fashion

Fashion played such an integral part of this beautiful wedding. Each ensemble was a statement and paid homage to their journey that led them up to this very moment. Zamara wore an elegant gown by Ouma Bridal. Ekaette went with a custom-made gown created for her by a seamstress from her village in Nigeria.

We are living in such an exciting and beautiful time where couples are redefining what weddings look like and forging their own traditions. Instead of one bride waiting at the altar for the other, each bride had their own moment walking down the aisle on the arm of their father 🥹.
