Palm Springs Wedding at Colony 29: Desert Romance with Orange & Pink!

Happy bride and groom on their wedding day outdoors

Hello lovelies! Do you love the desert? How about romance? How about Palm Springs? Well, you’re in luck because this next wedding combines all those things and more at the lovely Colony 29. The chic decor features pops of orange and pink throughout with a hint of tropical (think pineapples on the tables!).

It was gorgeous, to say the least, and Jessica & Brandon went above and beyond making sure their wedding was a unique and memorable experience for all their guests. From a whiskey + cigar bar to mac & cheese (brides favorite) on the menu, see it all below + in the full gallery captured by Hannah Costello.

From the bride

This was my favorite part! The personal touches make your wedding so memorable and special. We had a whiskey and cigar bar named in my late Uncle's honor. It was a huge hit! I had mac n cheese on the menu because its my favorite. It's not the most traditional classic wedding food, but it was a fun personal touch. Our dog, Kevin was a big part of our wedding. He walked our mother's down the aisle (and rolled around on the grass during the ceremony) and we had a signature cocktail named after him. Our cocktail napkins had our hashtag on them: #KevinsParentsAreGettingMarried.

DIY projects

My mom watercolored every place card and I wrote each guest's name on them, it was a special DIY project we shared. Brandon gave my Dad a special gift during the toasts. It's a running joke in my family that my Dad hates to dress up, so Brandon presented him with black tux shorts and his favorite comfortable shoes (in black) to match his tux. He immediately changed and everyone loved it. For us, the music was very important and personal. We spent a lot of time choosing songs that represented us a couple and how we wanted the day to feel. Brandon played 'Beyond by Leon Bridges' for me one night and suggested I walk down the aisle to it. I loved that he chose it and that the lyrics spoke to him. I now tear up every time I hear the song.

wedding advice for brides

Go with the flow! I was adamant about not doing a first look and it turned out that we had to, because of lighting. It was the best decision ever! It calmed my nerves seeing Brandon earlier in the day and we were able to spend one on one time together before everything began. It was great to take our time with the photos and go to different locations. And as a plus, we enjoyed cocktail hour with our guests! Take into account what time the sun sets at your venue on your wedding day. If I knew the sun would disappear behind the mountains at 430pm on our wedding day, I might have picked a date earlier in the year. I didn't envision cocktail hour and the reception to be in the dark. Be in the moment and try to stay together as a couple as much as you can during the reception. Things will go "wrong" but your guests will never notice. And pick a great team of vendors! Make sure you are on the same page with "the look" for your day and then give them the freedom to be creative, they are the experts after all.
