This fairytale wedding had the prettiest pastel floral installations

editorial wedding photos

Calling all BookTok brides and fairytale fans, this wedding in a castle is literally a dream come true! From the bride's Galia Lahav dress (inspired by Lord of the Rings) and the dreamy pastel color palette, this beautiful day is going to be stuck in our heads for a while, thanks to these whimsical photos by Gabriela Jarkovska. And before you ask, yes, of course they had a live string band playing songs from the Bridgerton soundtrack, and yes, they shared their playlist–so get scrolling and get ready to copy and paste for your own wedding plans.

the vision: fairytale dreamscape

pastel wedding flowers

Our original color palette was inspired by a beautiful Italian wedding and consisted of powder pinks and soft blues. As our vision evolved, we adapted it to include delicate lilac tones and subtle gold accents to complement the grandeur of the castle ballroom. These shades together created a pastel fairytale atmosphere that matched our theme of dreamy elegance. The inspiration for our wedding came from floral-forward weddings that feel like you’ve stepped into a completely different, magical world. I had always dreamt of decor that included a tree-flower structure to evoke that fairytale feeling. We ultimately chose Šimák Zámok Pezinok—a reconstructed 13th-century castle—not only for its historical beauty and emotional value (my parents were married there), but for its elegant ballroom with gold details and high ceilings, ideal for our floral installations. Our goal was to blend the soft romance of pastel hues with the grandeur of castle architecture, creating a scene reminiscent of elves from Lord of the Rings placed in a luxurious, modern-day fairytale.

Guests were greeted in the mail by a soft blue envelope and opened it to reveal pastel florals and an invitation featuring a gilded illustration of the castle venue. It would have been an immediate YES RSVP from us!

getting ready

cute getting ready looks

Get ready because this is just the beginning of us obsessing over this beautiful bride. She went for elven princess and NAILED it! We're not 100, but we're pretty dang sure she even used the famous Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey that Liv Tyler wore in LOTR (don't ask why we know that). To get ready, she lounged in a floor-length silk robe in a dusty mauve color trimmed in feathers.

Wearing a Galia Lahav gown had always been a dream of mine, and to my delight, their dresses were available in Slovakia at Salon Isabell. After several visits, I chose an off-the-shoulder gown with ethereal puffy sleeves and delicate leaf-like embellishments that sparkled beautifully. The gown made me feel like an elf princess—it was elegant, whimsical, and absolutely perfect for the atmosphere we had envisioned. The most important part for me when picking the dresses for my bridesmaids was for my girls to be comfortable and to love the dress we ended up choosing. Taking into account all the body shapes and specific wishes, such as a color they shine best in or concerns about modesty, I decided that each of the girls should pick a different dress so as not to force someone into wearing something they don't feel comfortable in. Our experience was made incredible thanks to the amazing team at Rewritten in their London studio, where we traveled to pick the dresses. Beautiful satin, luxurious materials, many flattering cuts, and a wide choice of colors made our day much easier. In the end, each girl picked a dress they loved in the colors of champagne, terracotta, and rose pink, which created a stunning gradient.

We partnered with Ambientes for our floral design and decor, as they specialize in the kind of breathtaking arrangements we envisioned. They had previously hosted a workshop at our venue, which deeply inspired us. Our vision included minimal use of greenery to maintain a soft, elegant pastel palette rather than a woodland aesthetic. One of the most special decor elements was a flower umbrella created especially for our portrait photos—a unique challenge the team at Ambientes took on with enthusiasm and creativity.

the playlist

Live music played a key role in setting the tone of our wedding. We chose a string quartet that performed selections reminiscent of the Bridgerton series, which our guests absolutely loved. For our ceremony entrance, we walked down the aisle to instrumental music In Dreams by Howard Shore from The Lord of the Rings, performed by the quartet—an emotional and cinematic moment we’ll never forget. Afterwards, at the reception, the ambiance and entertainment were ensured thanks to a lovely combination of a live band, which the guests absolutely loved as they created quite the show stepping down from their podium to sing and dance with the crowd, a wonderful DJ who kept the party going after midnight. Some other special songs that we included on our day were: What Could Have Been by Sting for our choreographed contemporary first dance. Ordinary World by Duran Duran for our actual non-choreographed first dance that bled into the parents' dance. Potter Waltz from the Harry Potter series which created an absolutely magical cake-cutting atmosphere. Dos Gardenias by Angel Canales for our midnight outfit change and a dance which we choreographed ourselves based on a very specific bar dancing scene from the Narcos Mexico TV show. And finally, Never Ending Story by Limahl, which was the last song to play and send us off at 3 am when the after party had come to an end. We are quite nerdy and geeky, which has definitely influenced our song picks, and we were so excited to be able to have these little gems hidden there from many franchises, which meant a lot to us. I will never forget how the guests were coming to us and praising us for the song choices, especially the LOTR walk to the altar, which no one truly expected but loved hearing, especially in the beautiful string quartet edition, which made it truly regal.

the rings

vintage inspired engagement ring

There are so many beautiful rings in the world to choose from, and my heart was captured by a stunning ring from Nora Sermez, who creates truly one-of-a-kind artifacts with ethically sourced gems. Even when ordering my engagement ring also from Nora, I already knew I would like to wear both rings on the same left hand, and so chose to wear my engagement ring on the pointer finger, which is to this day met by confusion by some.

The stunning three-tiered cake was hand-painted with abstract butter cream flower details. It was displayed on a delicate gold and marble cart and, of course, it had its very own floral arrangements.
