Set at Rosewood San Miguel in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Tessa and Joey’s wedding was the definition of romantic elegance—a celebration filled with beauty, meaning, and timeless style. Planned and designed by Solei Weddings, every moment reflected the couple’s personality and love for effortless charm and authentic experiences. The floral design by PS Flower Studio combined lush greenery with soft pinks, whites, and neutrals. The ceremony featured live musicians, creating a dreamy, storybook atmosphere under the warm Mexican sun.

Dinner was served family-style, inspired by the couple’s love for intimate gatherings. “We always eat family-style when we host friends, so we wanted to bring that same feeling to our wedding,” Tessa shares. Guests skipped the traditional cake for fresh-made churros and enjoyed late-night espresso martinis and carajillos from a coffee cart—a hit for everyone.

their love story

timeless black tie wedding fashion

Tessa McBride (now Shuster) and Joseph “Joey” Shuster first met at a house party in San Francisco—at Joey’s home, to be exact. “I still remember the first time we saw each other; there was an instant spark,” Tessa recalls. “We spent the entire night talking, and the rest is history.” Years later, Joey proposed on a private beach in Hawaii, a special place for Tessa and her family.

When it came to their wedding, the couple dreamed of a destination that felt vibrant, intimate, and unforgettable. “We both love Mexico and visit often since we live in San Diego,” says Tessa. “We fell in love with San Miguel instantly—its charm, culture, and romance made it the perfect setting for our day.”

Tessa wore a timeless Galia Lahav gown—elegant and understated, with just the right touch of drama. Joey looked effortlessly classic in a black Tom Ford tuxedo, perfectly complementing the refined aesthetic of the day.

Some of the most emotional moments happened in private. “We read our vows in our pajamas over coffee that morning,” says Tessa. “It was so intimate and special—we were both sobbing.” During the ceremony, under their floral chuppah, the sound of waterfalls and the sight of a monarch butterfly floating nearby made everything feel surreal. “It truly felt like a dream.”

Their first dance to “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez opened an evening filled with laughter, love, and nonstop dancing. Looking back, Tessa’s best advice for other couples is simple: “Breathe, slow down, and enjoy the moment. It doesn’t have to be perfect to be magical."
