Intimate Moody Wedding in the Heart of San Francisco

Smiling wedding couple and dog cross San Francisco street

Gabrielle and Kenny's penthouse wedding in San Francisco is the perfect example of all of the perks a micro-wedding has to offer. Not only can you splurge more on your venue, but you can spoil your guests with a meal they won't forget. For their reception, guests were treated to a 5-course meal cooked by a private chef! Having a smaller wedding also allowed their fur baby to be part of the action, which is always a plus in our book!

CMG Events helped this couple re-think their initial plans for a 200 person wedding and downsize without sacrificing their original vision for their big day. The couple loved the existing decor at Fairmont San Francisco so much that they asked Flower Girl Em to use it as inspiration for their florals, which consisted of deep burgundies and other moody fall tones. Encarnacion Photography took these lovely airy photos and Sean Kenney Films followed the couple around the city and got the whole day on video. A CHANGE OF PLANS

Gabrielle and Kenny were originally going to have a large 200+ person wedding. Then the pandemic turned those plans upside down. When tragedy struck the family, they realized they simply did not want to wait any longer. So, we jumped into action to plan the most beautiful micro-wedding for fourteen guests in the heart of San Francisco. Gabrielle and Kenny had always loved the moody and old city feel of the historic and famous Fairmont San Francisco. We held the ceremony at a gorgeous local church a few blocks away and then we shuttled guests to the Penthouse in the Fairmont for a stunning 5-course dinner prepared by a private chef, Chef Adair.

KEEPING WITH THE THEME

Gabrielle knew she wanted a design that felt romantic and authentic to the hotel. We started with luxurious 'Pinot' velvet linens from La Tavola for the base. We then worked with Standard Event Rentals to create the perfect tabletop design and chair selection. Timeless and regal were adjectives we leaned into while designing. Florals were extremely important to Gabrielle as well, so we brought on the talented Flower Girl Em. Emily’s florals were showstoppers! They lined the long dining tables, piano, and fireplaces. We also created a growing wall behind the cake. We worked with Invited By Lamaworks on the invitation and paper goods. We incorporated mix match tones for paper goods and one of our favorite elements was the name of each guest attached to the menu. We kept designs classic but brought understated elegance with a touch of modern as well.

A STROLL TO REMEMBER

One of Gabby and Kenneth's favorite parts of the day was taking their pup Maxine on a walk during their cocktail hour in their wedding outfits walking the streets of SF. They got to soak in the day and truly be present with one another. Not to mention how fun those pictures turned out!
