Virginia Wedding Blends Chinese Tradition & Southern Charm: Jen & Phil

A lovely late spring day in Virginia is made all the more beautiful as two hearts are joined as one. Jen has happy tears in her eyes on her walk down the aisle while Phil's joy and excitement shine brighter than the early June sun! There are some gorgeous wedding details (ie, the blue and white ceremony parasols, and the classic blue and white floral patterned vases holding all the floral arrangements) but it is hard to keep your eyes off these newlyweds

Jen and Phil’s wedding combined Chinese tradition with Southern hospitality at Phil’s family home in Louisa, Virginia, where the couple tied the knot.

The couple’s fused style was illustrated through many aspects of the day:
-Guests were given Chinese parasols at the ceremony site since to protect them from the sun and add to the decor on the warm spring day.
-After the ceremony during cocktail hour, the couple changed into traditional Chinese apparel and participated in a Chinese tea ceremony while guests watched and mingled.
-The guest tables were decorated in chinoiserie table settings which exemplified a perfect blend of Southern style and Chinese heritage.
-Place cards were made from chopsticks and there was a satellite bar decorated with paper lanterns.
-Dinner was served as a traditional Chinese family styleeight course meal. To incorporate their love of local Richmond cuisine, the couple had a unique dessert display from a popular local bakery.

Jen and Phil’s love of botanicals and vibrant colors were depicted through their decor; notably the floral chandelier in the center of the dance floor. Honoring Phil’s family and his military background the couple booked a string quartet to play his favorite song during cocktail hour and cut the cake with a sword.
