Breezy pale pink and blue poolside wedding on the Outer Banks

Jerry and Amanda spent every summer together on the Outer Banks, a tiny sand bar that held a large piece of their hearts for nearly a decade. Whether it be the 12-hour road trip from Boston, dining at their favorite local spot, or just walking on the beach, every small memory they created in the quaint coastal towns felt like magic. When Jerry popped the question, the pair knew without a doubt that the Outer Banks was the only place that made sense for them to say, ‘I do.’ Sight unseen, the bride and groom booked a stunning 25-bedroom event home with the dream of joining their families together for one epic wedding week. Located in a private community on acres of green space and captured by Kasey Powell Weddings, The Black Stallion was the perfect location for this couple to tie the knot.

After-the-fact advice from the couple

"Don’t get too caught up in your budget. By all means, finances are important, but it’s okay to splurge on what’s important to you and your spouse. For us, it was catering and photography. We’re huge foodies, and capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments was a non-negotiable for us. Also, don’t be afraid to book a planner! Planning your own day is totally doable, but a planner has expertise that will take so much stress off of you and your partner. Our planner was an integral part of our day and helped us advocate for what was important to Jerry and I as a couple. It’s easy to let other people’s opinions overshadow your own preferences during planning, so having an external supporter can help determine what YOU want your day to look like."
