their love story
We have “known” of each other for many years. We went to the same elementary school, middle school, and high school. I, Cortney, am a year older, so we didn’t necessarily hang out in the same group or know each other too well, but we always knew of each other. Years down the road, we reconnected, and that was it! Once we started dating, we also learned that our parents' houses (where we grew up) are in the same overall neighborhood. Lots of connections that wove our stories together.
Nate and I have a boat and love to be out on the lake. We went out one weekend, and I was in the front of the boat relaxing. Lenny, one of our dogs, came up to the front of the boat and had a blue ribbon around his neck with the ring tied onto the ribbon. It was very sweet and very us.
the vision: vibrant and joyful
I love color. I always knew I wanted lots of color to make our day joyful and happy. Luckily, Nate was on board, and from there we worked with Bliss Events to decide on our color palette. I also saw some other weddings that had taken place at Flora Farms and got inspired by some of the things I saw in those. I definitely would say I had a very clear vision. We also had other touches like colorful strings of pom-poms hanging from the amazing chandelier in the barn. We loved our seating chart, decked out in flowers by Blush N Roses.
the fashion
We didn’t want it too formal, yet wanted it to still be festive. Nate and the groomsmen wore light gray linen suits, which felt like the perfect fit for Mexico. I chose a dress that was lightweight, comfortable, and had a purple/floral design. My wedding dress ended up being everything that I wanted. I looked at four different bridal salons here in Minnesota, and the fourth salon I went to was where I found my dress. I was lucky enough that the designer I chose was able to make individual adjustments based on the request of the bride, so in the end, I ended up with a dress that felt like it was made for me.
the bar
Our signature drinks were a margarita and a Paloma picante. One of our favorite details was our bar sign that highlighted our dogs, Moose and Lenny. We weren’t able to bring them with us to Cabo for the wedding but wanted to make sure our little loves were there somehow. And our bar sign was the perfect way to do that!
the cake
Our cake was a beautiful white cake with edible flowers on it, which went perfectly with our theme. We chose the number of their dessert options in addition to our beautiful wedding cake.
