A stylish NYE wedding with an altar made of wood from the family farm
The vision for this glam New Year's Eve wedding at Northriver Yacht Club was "exquisite simplicity." The couple and their planner, M. Elizabeth Events, sought to embrace a minimalistic mindset to make the maximum impact. To do so, they leaned into interesting surfaces and textures, strong black custom build elements, acrylic, matted metallics, sleek leather, and marble to make a dramatic impact for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Captured by Heather Durham Photography, this NYE wedding defied that traditional expectation and created something truly unique that ended with a dramatic fireworks display.
Geometric clock detail
Formal, calligraphed invitations from Annabelle's set the tone for this elegant NYE wedding. The save the date gave a nod to ringing in the new year at midnight with a geometric clock detail that surrounded the save the date information.

Featured designer: Eva Lendel
Addison wore a gown by designer Eva Lendel purchased at Ivory & White Bridal Boutique in Birmingham, Alabama. The stunning gown featured a sheath silhouette with off the shoulder neckline and semi-transparent sleeves. It was entirely decorated with beads and sequins. Addison added a Mikado overskirt by Martina Liana to have two looks for her ceremony and reception.
Meaningful moment: Childhood home
One of Addison's favorite memories of the wedding day was spending the morning getting ready with her sisters, mom, and bridesmaids at her childhood home. It was also the place where Ross proposed, so it was extremely special to not only do their first look in the same location, but to also spend the day taking photos in a location that was so special to their story as a couple.
Ivory Amsale bridesmaids
The bridesmaids wore the Amsale Jara gown in ivory. The Jara gown was a strapless bodice with an A-line skirt in fluid satin.
Traditional black tie style
All the gentlemen in the wedding wore a traditional black tuxedo from Mr. Burch that included satin lapels, a crisp white tuxedo shirt, a self-tie bowtie, a cufflinks and stud set, proper tuxedo trousers, and elegant tuxedo footwear.
Sentimental gift: Custom bridal frame
The bride was presented with a framed image of all of the special women in her life as brides.
Cheers to the ceremony
Upon arrival to the ceremony, guests were greeted with a celebratory glass of champagne to kick off the New Year's Eve celebration. Each glass was adorned with a gold or silver pompom.
Mono-floral designs in matte & metallics
For the floral and design, the couple played with sophisticated yet trendy ideas, anchored by a meticulous color palette of white and ivory. They matched white leather with matte metallics to bring in the New Year's Eve celebration. Flowers consisted of beautifully sleek calla lilies, mixed with mono-floral designs that included garden roses, baby's breath, and ranunculus.
Custom cross from the family farm
The cross that the couple were married in front of was made out of wood from the bride's beloved family farm, Coal Fire, in Pickensville, Alabama. To make it even more special, it was handmade by the minister and longtime family friend, Charlie Durham, who also officiated the wedding. The cross was also used at the bride's sister's wedding the year prior, and it is now in their family chapel at Coal Fire.
When the bride is a "Swiftie"...
The music was one of Addison's favorite parts. Being a huge "Swiftie," they chose "New Year's Day" by Taylor Swift for the bridal party processional, played by a string quartet. The bride's dad surprised her with one of his favorite songs, "Ashokan Farewell" by the American folk musician, Jay Unger and recognized nowadays from the 2018 premier of the television series, Yellowstone.
Must-do: Portraits with pets
Before joining their stunning NYE reception, the couple - of course - paused to take some portraits with their beloved dog.
Live menu: Sushi!
The reception menu featured southern favorites such as beef tenderloin, fried okra, and bacon wrapped green beans; however, the real highlight was the sushi chef and roller from Chuck's Seafood in Tuscaloosa. Guests were offered a choice of three rolls - all the couple's favorites from one of their most frequented date night restaurants.
Cake dogs and "Denny Dogs"
After cutting into a stunning five-tier monochromatic cake by Barb's Cakes complete with an adorable doggo surprise, the couple's late-night snack was the iconic "Game Day Denny Dog" because you can't come to Tuscaloosa and not have this specialty from Bryant-Denny Stadium!
Ringing in the New Year in (wedding) style
Not many people can say that they rang in the New Year with all of their closest friends and family! The evening was full of special New Year's Eve details such as beads, hats and tiaras, and noisemakers. The reception started with a double champagne sabering to officially open the dance floor and ended with a six-minute firework show over Lake Tuscaloosa. It was a special memory that put an exclamation point on the wedding day that this couple will never forget.
