their love story

bride and groom with dog

Annie and Eric are high school sweethearts! Annie loves the way Eric looks at the world with such wonder and curiosity, always eager to learn and explore. She feels his passion for life is infectious, and it inspires her to embrace each day with the same enthusiasm. She says, “I love the way he loves me. It's a love that is patient and understanding, passionate and deep." Eric feels that Annie continuously pushes him past his potential, whether at the top of a 10,000+ ft mountain or experiencing the mundane day-to-day work grind, she brings out the best in him. He says, “Her personality is contagious, whether we’re with friends laughing at a bar or sober with friends discussing in-depth life topics, everybody gravitates towards her. I love how I can be myself around her 24/7/365, even in the first few months of knowing her when we were teenagers. I know that she will be the best mother on Earth, and I absolutely adore that.”

the proposal

bridal detail photos

"I’ve always imagined what a proposal might feel like…maybe I’d have a hint, maybe I’d see it coming. But nothing could have prepared me for how shocked I was at that moment. We hadn’t even gone ring shopping yet, so when Eric dropped to one knee, I experienced a level of surprise I didn’t even know was possible. It was, without a doubt, better than anything I could have ever dreamed of or planned myself. Our trip to Zion National Park was already an adventure of a lifetime, and we had even won the lottery ticket to hike Angels Landing, one of the most breathtaking and challenging hikes we had ever attempted. Eric had originally planned to propose at the very top. But as we climbed higher, navigating the steep switchbacks and holding onto chains to keep from slipping off sheer cliffs, I found myself overwhelmed by the height and intensity of it all. We made it to the top together, and while the view was indescribable, Eric could tell that I wasn’t in the right mindset. Instead of pushing forward with his plan, he did something even more special—he waited. It wasn’t until we were safely back down, standing in the golden afternoon light, celebrating our achievement, that he knew this was the perfect moment. The towering red cliffs framed us like a masterpiece, the Virgin River flowed gently nearby, and I was finally at peace, happy, accomplished, and completely unaware of what was coming next. Then, out of nowhere, Eric got down on one knee. I gasped, my hands flying to my mouth, my mind struggling to process what was happening. He opened the box, revealing the most beautiful ring, catching the sunlight just right. "Will you marry me?"

the vibe: timeless and tranquil

private vows for wedding

Annie and Eric embraced a tranquil color palette and a timeless design for thier big day. Earthy tones of sage and white leaned into the natural aesthetic of the venue, with minimalistic by NE Flower Boutique florals made of hydrangea, roses, and greenery. Wooden farm tables filled the reception space with small candles. It was an overall warm and inviting canvas. It was important to utilize the backdrops of the large stone farmhouse and the surrounding greenery. The John James Audubon Center has sprawling grounds, being part of a historic and preserved park area, so there were lots of options to vary the texture of our backgrounds. The ceremony space was conveniently located near the reception, but it felt like you were in a totally separate secret garden!

the fashion

minimalist ball gown for wedding

There were no outfit changes, but Annie knocked us all out in her Eva Lendel gown from The Ivory Concept. A classic silhouette with a statement bow on the back. She chose to have a removable skirt worn only at the ceremony that she removed for the reception. This offered the best of all worlds—the traditional grandeur of a bridal gown and the freedom of a lively reception. The groomsmen, brothers of the bride, and the father of the bride were suited by State and Liberty.

three first looks

first look on porch

We started the day with Annie’s father-daughter first look moment. She saved the handwritten letters her dad wrote to her in college and had a custom handkerchief made with a cartoon drawing he did on one of the letters. Additionally, she wrote a note to him. Once we got to the venue, Annie did a first look with her brothers that was unique and emotional. Both boys cried the second they turned around! This definitely amped up everyone’s energy to another level. Finally, we got to Annie & Eric’s first look with just each other. They had decided to not include their dog (Jackson the Bernedoodle! ) in the wedding, but as a surprise to Eric, Annie had their pup brought in during this moment. Eric was beaming!

custom details

custom matchboxes for wedding favors

We created custom match boxes as their seating chart, based on their interest in adventure. These two lived remotely for a year, traveling the US before getting married. Additionally, there were custom napkins at cocktail hour with a love note Eric wrote to Annie in 2013.

the food and drinks

non alcoholic signature drinks for wedding

"Nowadays" was their personal signature drink, because they do not drink alcohol. Annie and Eric opted out of a cake and set up an ice cream bar instead. This came from a local Pennsylvania farm called Merrymead Farms!

Last, but certainly not least, later on in the reception, Annie’s dad got up and sang with his guitar during his toast. He sang a song, “When You’re My Age” by Lori McKenna, which he wishes he would have known to sing to her when she was a little girl. This is the song they then danced to for their Father/Daughter dance. A few months later, Annie decided to send Lori the video of her dad playing her song at the wedding. Lori saw it and decided to meet her parents at a later event! All in all, the stars certainly aligned.

Yep, we found the song...get the tissues ready...😭
