their love story
While visiting from Paraguay, Ariel matched with a beautiful woman on a dating app and immediately asked her out. With the ongoing pandemic, Melina was hesitant to leave her home to meet a stranger. But after a few days of texting and an hours-long video chat, she agreed to meet in person. When Ariel picked a local brewery, Melina couldn’t believe he’d happened to suggest her brother’s brewery. Unbeknownst to her, though, Ariel had done his research and consulted with his future brother-in-law to find out where she was most comfortable. It worked! Later, on a trip to visit Ariel in South America, he proposed on a Brazilian getaway with a traditional, handmade Paraguayan ring, to which Melina enthusiastically agreed!
the vision: joy in technicolor
One word came to mind when Melina and Ariel envisioned their wedding day: memorable. For them, that meant vibrant colors, lively music, and POST Houston, a one-of-a-kind venue that highlighted their love for the city. Boy, did their technicolor wedding day deliver! Designed by Belle Events, the celebration started with a Jewish ceremony featuring an extravagant, whimsical chuppah covered with flowers in every color of the rainbow. They were married by Melina’s rabbi, who blessed them under the tallit Ariel wore for his bar mitzvah. The reception space was just as colorful, with feathery jewel-toned florals, patterned linens, and plush lounge furniture adding texture and energy to every corner.
the ketubah
A ketubah, or Jewish marriage contract, is usually handwritten in illuminated script. For their colorful wedding, it only made sense that their ketubah was as vibrant as the celebration itself.
the fashion
For their outside-the-box wedding, Melina knew she would need to go custom to get the dress just right, and she turned to David Peck. Together, they dreamed up this gorgeous beaded masterpiece with ostrich feathers on the shoulders and skirt that danced as she walked. Ariel wore a textured black three-piece suit with a tie that somehow incorporated every color in their palette! In keeping with the colorful theme, the bridesmaids were allowed to wear just about any floor-length dress they wanted.
the cake
The cake was a crowd favorite, as it told the story of their relationship and highlighted some of their funniest and most meaningful adventures together (and it was delicious!).
the party
After hours of dancing and the wildest hora in history, the newlyweds bid farewell with a shower of multicolored streamers — a perfect end to their bright and vibrant celebration.
