A colorful, wildflower-filled wedding in the texas hill country
From the groom's green suit and pink tie to the sunset-inspired bridesmaids' ensembles, this wedding embraced color at every turn. their love story
Lucy and Roger’s story began on Hinge in 2022, sparked by Roger’s witty humor and his Whippet pup, Lasagna. Their first date at a brewery, with Lasagna happily tagging along, set the tone for what would become a relationship filled with fun and adventure. By their second date, Roger was already cooking Lucy steak and potatoes, proving he could make her laugh and win her over through food. Two years later, during a spring trip to Aspen, Roger proposed at 11,000 feet on a mountaintop hike, secretly recording the moment as he dropped to one knee. Surrounded by stunning views and pure joy, they said yes to a lifetime of adventures together.
the vision: wildflowers and pastels
Their wedding at Walden Retreats in the Texas Hill Country reflected both their playful personalities and their love of color—a vision brought to life by the team at Verve Austin and Westbank Flower Market. Personalized details, like their dog-themed stationery and cake accents, a guest wedding barrel hand-burned by Roger, and luggage tag seating cards, wove their story into every corner of the day. From heartfelt vows to a packed dance floor under string lights, their celebration was filled with love, laughter, and the people (and pups!) who mean the most to them.
the stationery
The lucky list of invitees received a vibrant floral envelope in the mail, which opened to reveal a luxurious trifold invitation suite with watercolor illustrations of each of the venues. And, with every card featuring a different color, it also hinted at the playful palette for the day.
the fashion
Lucy wore a strapless A-line gown with bright, floral-inspired shoes, while Roger chose a green suit from Soto & Co. that perfectly matched the bold palette of wildflower-inspired florals and sunset-hued bridesmaid dresses.
the escort wall
During cocktail hour, guests found their way to an escort wall featuring personalized luggage tags. This is (and always will be) one of our favorite wedding favors. Seriously, you can never have too many luggage tags (speaking from experience), so they'll actually use them, and the color combos are endless!
a non-traditional guest book
Non-traditional guest books are trending. This couple decided to have their guests sign a barrel that they can later use as decor in their home. The groom took it one step further by burning their monogram into the top of the barrel.
the cake
For dessert, the couple cut into a three-tiered wedding cake decorated in fresh flowers. If you look closely, you'll find a cute little nod to their fur babies.
a sparkler exit
When you're planning your wedding, don't sleep on your exit plan. Not like an emergency exit, LOL, but your Grand Exit. Moments like these make for great photos, and, for an instant, you'll have all of your favorite people in the same frame. If you're going for sparklers, go for it at the end of the night as you make your getaway, like this couple did. But, for confetti or petals, hand them out to your guests to shower you with right after the ceremony for the best lighting.
