Colorful Jewish Indian Wedding: A Celebration of Love and Culture

Newlyweds in traditional Indian clothing embrace fondly

Vibrant Multicultural Wedding

If you're a fan of happiness and bright colors, you will genuinely enjoy Radha and Razi's colorful wedding, where they paid homage to both their cultures with two wedding ceremonies.

Starting with the Jewish ceremony, Razi stomped on the glass, signifying "as this glass shatters, so may our marriage never break." After that, they then had a traditional Indian ceremony for Radha's heritage under Mandap draped with marigold garlands designed by Bluma Farm.

This multicultural beauty was planned and designed by Riley Loves Lulu and captured by Palo Alto's wedding photographer, Alice Che.

Not only will you enjoy all the gorgeous photos, but you'll thoroughly enjoy Radha and Razi's love story, wedding advice, and their favorite part of the day.

How did you meet/ how did you get engaged?

Razi and I met on one fateful day in 2010 at the campus climbing gym at our university. We instantly hit it off and our friendship was sealed when Razi intentionally left his longboard in my car when I gave him a ride home.

Over the next year, our friendship blossomed over study sessions, rock climbing, slacklining, and lentil soup. At some point, I asked Razi out, and, dozens of trips to Joshua Tree and an international move later, we finally got hitched!

It was on one of these numerous trips to Joshua Tree in 2016 that Razi popped the question. After 1 foiled attempt (I refused to climb the last boulder of the day, atop which he had set up a camera and brought the ring.), Razi and I spent the next day climbing a longer route. Once I got to the top, Razi knelt down to meet me, and with a chalky hand, presented me the very same ring I had chosen and asked "Wanna marry me?". Sold. You know the rest.

Any advice on wedding planning

Oof, I think if I had any advice, I wouldn't have been so terrible at planning my wedding. The best advice I can give is not to run away from the planning and to delegate early on. People wanted to help, but my biggest issue was figuring out how they could help. Making the exhaustive checklist early would have helped me not procrastinate (sorry Jess!) and give out tasks to folks who wanted to be helpful.

The Venue

The ceremony and reception were held at Lucie Stern Community Center, a place Radha remembered going often while she was growing up. Radha and Razi both loved the old Spanish-style buildings with the tiled rooftops and brick pathways.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

My absolute favorite part of the day was watching all my friends and family meet each other and have such a great time together. It was amazing to hear my parents be excited about meeting my friends, my uncles excited about meeting my new in-laws, and my friends meet my siblings. We tried to put our guests first in the planning of everything and seeing them all mix and mingle felt like we succeeded in that effort!

The Reception

For the reception, Jess of Riley Loves Lulu paired gorgeous tamarind velvet linens from La Tavola Fine Linen with Bluma Farm's beautiful florals and Blush Type's lovely calligraphy.

As a surprise for the bride and groom, their bridal party put together a choreographed dance that brought smiles and laughter to the entire reception space!
