the vibe: fairy tale garden
This wedding editorial blends lodge-style warmth with a soft, feminine aesthetic. A floral-forward design transforms the space, creating a dreamy juxtaposition of organic textures and romantic blooms. The color palette—featuring blush pink, creamy white, golden yellow, vibrant orange, dusty lavender, and lush greenery—evokes an ethereal garden feel. From an intimate circular ceremony setup outdoors to the enchanting mix of indoor and outdoor reception spaces, every element is thoughtfully curated to inspire a cohesive event throughout the multiple celebration sites on the lodge’s property. Statement details like an asymmetrical floral installation, a whimsical hanging cake swing, and artful tablescapes elevate the design, proving that rustic elegance and delicate romance can beautifully coexist. Perfect for modern couples seeking a refined yet nature-inspired celebration, this editorial reimagines lodge weddings with bold florals, creative details, and effortless sophistication.
For the reception space, we opted to let the floral installation shine, and instead of adding more blooms to the tablescape, we accentuated the look with different textured candles and luxury tableware rentals from The Prissy Plate. The outdoor reception look took on the same floral and foliage vibe with another statement linen from Nüage Designs as the base. The Prissy Plate brought this tablescape to life with unique, yet complementary, chargers, china, tableware, and napkins. Ivy Marie Weddings used centerpieces to further ground the look in this space.
the invitation suite
The custom-designed stationery set the tone for the day, reflecting the romantic floral aesthetic with delicate details and soft hues. Plus, the same artist who designed the invitation suite was at the shoot, live painting, creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake, and providing entertainment!
the florals
For the ceremony, September Tree Rentals brought our circular ceremony dreams to life with their premium silk floral pillars, aisle bouquets, and pedestals. The colorful combination of garden roses, lisianthus, veronica, delphinium, hydrangeas, scabiosa, rose buds, spray roses, lily of the valley, gypsophila, and three different varieties of eucalyptus set the tone for the fresh floral looks to come. We loved getting to combine fresh blooms with premium faux florals, something couples can consider when looking to create a whimsical wedding with less of an environmental impact.
For the reception, we knew we wanted to bring the outdoors in with a huge floral installation to accentuate the fireplace in the lodge reception space. When it came to the fresh blooms seen in both reception spaces, the linens selected from a brand new Nüage Designs collection helped inform our decision. Ivy Marie Weddings used lush greenery, ivy, and moss that you would see naturally around the property as the base of the indoor floral installation, then wove together a whimsical assortment of fresh blooms to complete the asymmetrical arrangements framing the estate table.
One of our favorite design elements was the estate table seen inside the lodge. Framed by the asymmetrical floral installation and with the two-story fireplace as the backdrop, this tablescape featured such pretty details that it didn’t need florals itself. The vintage-inspired floral linens from Nüage Designs provided the pop of color and feminine touch that florals would, so in place of any additional blooms, we added visual interest with vintage bubble glass taper candle holders in pastel hues with twisted candlesticks.
the venue
Nestled amongst the picturesque mountains of North Georgia, The Lodge at Old Mill is a wedding venue that offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. This serene setting is beloved not only for its tranquil forest ambiance but also for its convenient location. It's an hour from Atlanta, making it easily accessible for city dwellers, and it's also near some of Georgia's most popular mountain towns, providing a great starting point for exploring the region for a weekend getaway. The property features a cozy lodge that exudes warmth and hospitality. The lodge's centerpiece is a magnificent two-story fireplace, which creates an inviting atmosphere, perfect for a reception backdrop. Surrounding the lodge are expansive covered porches, offering guests a comfortable space to relax and take in the views of the surrounding landscape. The Lodge at Old Mill also boasts additional outdoor spaces, ideal for ceremonies, intimate receptions, or simply enjoying cocktail hour amongst the beauty of nature. These areas provide stunning backdrops of lush greenery, towering trees, and a bubbling creek, making it a magical setting for weddings.
the fashion
For the wedding and reception, our bride wore Anne Barge's Pemberley Dress, a fil coupé gown featuring a romantic strapless draped bodice, a slit skirt, and an A-line silhouette. We adored how the addition of the Pemberley Sleeves created a more classic look for the ceremony, which she could easily remove as the evening continued. For the getaway, she changed into Anne Barge's Rosemary Gown, a fun and flirty Wildflower Jacquard midi dress with velvet ribbon straps, enhancing the feminine, floral-filled vibe of the day.
live painting
E Stokes Creations seamlessly tied together both the paper goods and a live painting experience during the ceremony. We love the idea of incorporating a live painting at a wedding—not only does it capture the magic of the moment in real-time, but it also provides a one-of-a-kind keepsake for the couple to cherish forever. Watching the scene be foreshadowed in the paper goods and then unfold on canvas at the wedding adds a full-circle moment that is equal parts sweet and sentimental.
the cake
No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you; this gorgeous, 3-tiered wedding cake is floating on a swing—now, that takes a confident baker! We've never seen anything like this before, and it's details like this that your guests will talk about for years to come.
How to Get the Look
1. Choose a Soft Yet Vibrant Color Palette: Incorporate neutrals, pastels, and pops of color for a balanced mix of warmth and romance. Weave this palette into your paper goods, florals, linens, table rentals, and even attire with a second dress.
2. Let the Floral Installation Shine: Instead of overcrowding tables with flowers, create a statement floral piece—like this asymmetrical installation—on an arch, fireplace, or entryway. Use loose greenery as the base, cascading blooms to add visual interest, and wildflowers to accentuate, to ultimately achieve the organic, whimsical look.
3. Mix Textures for an Elegant Tablescape: Since the floral installation is the focal point, keep the table styling sophisticated yet understated with texture for dimension, luxury place settings, and luxury linens with floral prints or embroidery to complement the florals.
4. Incorporate Unique Statement Details: Make the design feel truly special with creative elements like a hanging cake swing for a show-stopping dessert display, a circular ceremony setup for an intimate and immersive experience, or asymmetrical floral pieces throughout the space to create a natural, organic feel.
By focusing on intentional floral design, patterns, textures, and creative statement details, you can recreate this ethereal yet cozy wedding aesthetic with ease!
