their love story

cute couples portrait ideas for wedding

We met at Silver Clouds, an infamous karaoke bar in San Francisco just a few blocks away from our house. Miranda went up on stage and sang "Rich Girl" by Hall & Oates. It was love at first chorus, and we have been inseparable ever since! We spent the weekend in Carmel (our favorite place) for Spencer's birthday. Spencer never wants to do anything for his birthday, so I was a little suspicious. He also didn't do a good job at hiding the bottle of champagne in his bag (neither of us like champagne, so that made me think it was happening that weekend!). We had two of our best friends join us for the weekend, and Saturday evening, Spencer suggested we do charcuterie and wine on the beach before heading to dinner. At sunset, Spencer asked me if I wanted to go for a walk to look at the tide pools. I knew this was it and got so nervous that I started to frantically pace in front of him! He stopped me and got down on one knee on the beach, in front of the most beautiful sunset, and asked me to marry him. It was perfectly imperfect, and wouldn't change a thing. We celebrated at dinner with our friends with dirty gin martinis and couldn't stop crying happy tears!

the destination: Cabo, Mexico

cabo wedding venue

To be honest, we weren't sure if we wanted a wedding. Both of us are very go-with-the-flow, and planning a wedding seemed stressful! We had been to several destination weddings as guests and absolutely loved how we got to travel and get away from our day-to-day lives while also celebrating our friends and families. We decided to entertain the idea of a destination wedding in Mexico, absolutely fell in love with Baja Luna just looking at photos, and decided to book it sight unseen! Having Sofia and Karla at Bliss Events was the best decision we made. Contrary to the stressful wedding planning we imagined, it was so incredibly easy and fun, and we loved joining every planning call. We kept asking ourselves, “Is this normal? We aren’t stressed...” And we truly owe it to our planners, who made it a breeze and so incredibly fun and enjoyable! They are professionals and truly exceeded our expectations.

the vibe: earthy and natural

A big reason why we decided on Baja Luna was the landscape and natural beauty the venue had to offer. We are huge plant lovers and felt like we didn't need to do much to the venue, as we wanted the venue to shine through. We love earthy tones and wanted a subtle, natural vibe for our florals/decor, but also wanted it to exude our vibe. With the help of Cristina G Florals, Sofia and Karla took our vision and made it a masterpiece. I was in awe looking at our vision when we walked into the venue on our wedding day–it was everything we dreamed of and more!

The day started bright and early, and Spencer's Best Man helped him put the finishing touches on his look while Miranda and her ladies lounged in the bridal suite, clad in adorable animal print robes.

galia lahav real bride

I felt like a million bucks in my dress. I wanted to feel like myself but lean into the Cabo vibes. I found the most incredible dress from Galia Lahav that spoke for itself. I knew it was the one the moment I tried it on. I didn't want to go crazy on the accessories, as I didn't need to–the dress was a showstopper! I also found the most fun set from Pat Bo for our rehearsal dinner–it has fringe detail and was so fun to dance and shake around in! We anticipated it being warm for our wedding in early November, so Spencer had his mind set on a linen suit. Spencer’s favorite color is green, so we searched far and wide for a green linen suit and found the perfect one at Luca Faloni. He had it custom-made, and he never looked so good!

the menu

mexican appetizers for wedding

We knew we had picked the right venue when we had our first tasting at Baja Luna. Being from California, there are so many farm-to-table restaurants that we love, and Baja Luna emulated that vibe perfectly. We had such a hard time picking our menu and even pivoted last minute to a few items because we wanted to try them at our wedding! We also love espresso martinis but wanted to be a little different and offer carajillos for guests after dinner, as we had a 2 am ending. The late-night food was also a hit!

After a delightful dinner al fresco, the couple and their guests made their way to the disco dance floor to let loose. Then came pyrotechnic surprise after surprise as cold sparks flew during the couple's first dance, and a dramatic firework show provided the perfect end to a perfect night.
