the vision: garden party

Every detail, vendor, and piece of décor was chosen with that vision in mind. From the bright arrangements by Everroot Florals and the live ceremony painter to the tea party dessert table and even the alpacas, each element came together that day at Sleepy Ridge Weddings to bring my garden party vision to life. Led by Karis and Co Weddings, so many incredible Utah vendors worked to make our day truly unforgettable. It was the most beautiful celebration of love, family, and the exciting future ahead.

I love flowers, bright colors, and gardening! It only made sense to combine some of my favorite things and create a theme around them! It sounds kind of silly, but growing up, I was obsessed with the character Fancy Nancy! The fancy dresses, the flowers, the tea parties—I loved it all! I knew from the very start of the wedding planning process I wanted to bring those elements to my wedding day.

Our family and friends were a big focus of our wedding day. We really wanted to create an experience that felt fun and memorable for everyone. We didn’t want it to be the kind of event where people just popped in, said hi, and left. We wanted them to stay, celebrate, and enjoy the reception. To make that happen, we added some fun details like a build-your-own-bouquet bar, mini golf in the front gardens, and custom coloring pages for the kids!

I have worked in the wedding industry for nearly three years as a wedding dress stylist for Bōda Bridal in Utah! I have helped countless brides find and design their dream dress! When my time came to dress shop, I knew I wanted to create my own custom dress with the help of Bōda Bridals owner and designer Destrie Dee. I worked with Destrie from the beginning to design not one, but two dream dresses! For the first dress, I knew I wanted a classy, elegant, fitted dress. For my second dress, I wanted the complete opposite! We designed a mini A-line dress covered top to bottom in stunning pearls and bubble sleeves. Designing my wedding dresses was truly a highlight of the wedding planning process! I wore shoes from the iconic Betsey Johnson. I am obsessed with everything she does and every pair of shoes they create. It was a no-brainer to wear Betsey Johnson on my wedding day.

From the moment I chose the girls in my wedding party, I knew I wanted to do something unique! I didn’t want to go the traditional route of having my bridesmaids wear the same dress or the same color! I wanted my bridesmaids to look like a bouquet of flowers all around me! My colors were pink, blue, green, purple, yellow, and orange! Each bridesmaid was able to choose from those colors and pick a dress they loved! Some girls wore a solid color, some had patterns, some had fun sleeves; it truly came together perfectly! I found my flower girl dresses on Amazon! I had spent months trying to find the perfect dresses for my sweet flower girls and never found anything I loved! I was on Amazon one day and stumbled across these dresses and knew they would be perfect!

The food was truly one of the highlights of my wedding! After the ceremony, before the reception began, we had a brief thirty minutes where guests were led to the front gardens for mingling! We had a darling “Sweet Treats Trike” in the front serving delicious gelato, straight from the cart! It was absolutely delicious and matched my theme so perfectly! Once inside the reception, we had two stunning tables styled by two amazing Utah food artists! Our first table was a fruit and charcuterie cup table! My thinking behind the charcuterie table was, “It’s summer, it’s hot, what would I want to eat during a wedding here in the middle of July?” The answer was delicious fresh fruit, meats, and cheeses! I am a huge advocate for “girl dinner,” and this table just felt perfect for me!

the music

I absolutely loved my music choice for all aspects of my wedding. Our DJ did an amazing job listening to me and bringing everything to life. I walked down the aisle to the instrumental version of “I See The Light” from the movie Tangled. Walking down the aisle was my fairy tale moment, and doing it to this song made my heart so happy! After we said, “I do,” we walked back down the aisle together to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole. It was the perfect celebration song to end the ceremony. Our first dance was to the song “Crazier” by Taylor Swift. This song just felt like it perfectly captured our relationship. Josh sweeps me off my feet constantly, and I truly feel like I get crazier for him every day. He is my person—he changed my life for the better. Dancing to this song under the bistro lights and cold sparks was everything I ever dreamed of!

the cake

The tea party dessert table was everything I dreamed of! It tied my garden party theme together perfectly. The artist even added teapots, teacups, and flowers throughout the table to really tie it all together. It was truly my exact vision come to life. One of my favorite moments from our wedding was the cake cutting. We wanted to include our parents in a special way and celebrate their love stories too. None of this would have been possible without them, and it meant so much to share that moment together.
