Journey to Middle Earth for this goth wedding in time for Halloween
Cat and Sam’s wedding was nothing short of an epic high gothic fantasy brought to life—a celebration that transported guests straight into the worlds of Middle-Earth and Westeros. Planned with the help of Moonbeam Weddings & Events and captured on camera by The Yellow Wild, this wedding at Venue 808 included everything from Gandalf to elvish inspiration to the Eye of Sauron, all coming together to create the perfect fantasy-inspired event that ultimately had guests dancing all night.
Color palette: burgundy and black
Cat wore an off-the-shoulder tulle gown with a striking burgundy and black bouquet with dripping maroon florals.
Middle Earth bouquets: floral swords
During the ceremony, the wedding party made a striking entrance—groomsmen in all black and bridesmaids in deep blood-red burgundy, each carrying swords instead of flowers as a nod to the Nine Ringwraiths. It was a perfect embodiment of the couple’s love for fantasy and their bold, unconventional vision.
Ceremony: elvish inspiration
The ceremony was inspired by Lothlórien, the mystical Elvish realm from The Lord of the Rings. Beneath towering trees wrapped in fairy lights and surrounded by glowing candles, the couple exchanged vows officiated by none other than Gandalf himself, creating moments of laughter, wonder, and heartfelt tears.
Cocktail hour theme: pick your poison
In line with the goth-inspired theme, guests "picked their poison" using the custom bar menu during cocktail hour.
Seating chart inspo: hand-lettered scroll
At cocktail hour, guests found their seats via a handcrafted, hand-lettered scroll seating chart, draped in vines and florals courtesy of Nocturne In Bloom.

Advice from the planner
"Always dream big and watch the magic come to life. No theme is too crazy or too out there. This is your day—throw out the rule book and wrap yourself in the ideas, themes, and décor that speak to you and your partner's love story."
