the vision: tropical paradise
Showcasing Hawaii’s gentle climate and joyful spirit, this tropical wedding styled shoot captured the island’s warm sunlit glow and the lush vibrance of its gardens. Luxury took on a distinctively local form, unfolding in a tropical backyard setting designed by Gloweddings to spotlight the creativity of local vendors and their collective inspiration. Set in Maunawili on the island of O‘ahu, the private garden was lined with towering MacArthur palms, red ti leaves, and blooming Hula Girl hibiscus by Pilina Blooms.

the florals
The abundant tropical flora created endless opportunities to layer natural foliage with wooden elements, local fruits, and rattan furniture—all framed by the dramatic silhouette of Mount Olomana in the background. Colorful lounges of furniture and rugs emphasized a reception-like mood, as a stream bed meandered through the backyard, surrounded by ferns with magnificent fronds and lush plantings of hibiscus, ginger, heliconia, banana, monstera, and ti leaf.
the fashion
The bride wore a gown by Lexbreezy Hawaii with a subtle floral print along with a traditional haku lei made from roses, baby’s breath, and native Hawaiian kupukupu ferns. The groom wore a woven ti leaf lei, symbolizing luck, protection, and blessings. At the time of the shoot, the models were dating; though playfully encouraged to tie the knot on the spot, they became engaged just a few months later. “I like to think we set them on that course,” the planner shared with a smile.
the favors
Leis of fragrant plumeria and rare Ni‘ihau shells were draped over carved koa wood bowls, while party favors included artisanal treats from a local bean-to-bar chocolate company.
the cake
With a design as vibrant as this, you better believe that the cake brings the color too, and this one by Mana Cakes Hawaii did not disappoint. This two-tiered cake was decorated in a unique leaf print in a contrasting violet buttercream frosting and live orchids and moss.
