From Hinge to Happily Ever After: A Chinoiserie Wedding with Three Stunning Dresses
From a chance Hinge match during the height of Covid to a wedding day brimming with cultural beauty, Yujing and Keaton’s love story is one for the books. Their big day perfectly reflected their shared joy and heritage, with Yujing dazzling in not one, but three wedding dresses, a vibrant Qipao, an elegant Cheongsam, and a breathtaking lace gown. Surrounded by chinoiserie-inspired details and a palette of soft blues, sunny yellows, and crisp whites, their celebration blended the rich traditions of Chinese culture with the timeless charm of a classic American wedding.
The Fashion
JINZA Oriental Couture is where timeless artistry meets modern elegance. With a passion for reviving ancient craftsmanship, they collaborate with master artisans whose embroidery and tailoring skills have been passed down for generations. Every gown is more than a dress, it’s a living tribute to cultural heritage, crafted from fine silk and adorned with intricate, symbolic embroidery. JINZA’s mission is to weave history into the fabric of life, creating pieces that can be worn, celebrated, and passed down as treasured heirlooms for generations to come. In addition to the beautful gowns, JINZA also creates top quality Tang Suits for the groom.
For her wedding day, bride, Yujing chose not one but two breathtaking Chinese wedding dresses from JINZA, each with its own story. She first wore a traditional white Qipao, custom-made in luxurious silk and detailed with hand embroidery that honored her cultural roots. Later, she slipped into a modern dark green Cheongsam, a sleek, contemporary take on the classic silhouette, perfectly tailored to her figure while still echoing the grace of tradition. Together, these gowns beautifully blended heritage and modern style, allowing the bride to honor the past while celebrating her own unique love story.
How It All Began
When Covid sent Yujing home from Cornell Law and cost Keaton his law firm offer, fate stepped in. Keaton landed a D.C. clerkship, both joined Hinge, and their story began.
Their first date at Zaytinya was full of laughs, with Keaton guiding the way when Yujing got lost. Just as the night ended, Yujing realized she’d left her purse behind. Keaton jumped off his train, got a little lost retrieving it, and came back to find her waiting, this time, she let him ride home with her.
That train ride sealed their connection, full of easy jokes and conversation. Yujing told her sister she’d found “the one,” while Keaton called his mom to gush.
The Wedding Inspo
Keaton Sheeler and Yujing Wang’s wedding was a joyful celebration that beautifully blended traditional Chinese culture with classic American elegance. Both Yujing and her mom have long loved blue and white porcelain, a stunning symbol of Chinese art and heritage. That clean, timeless look perfectly complemented the style of a traditional Western wedding, so chinoiserie became the theme that tied the whole day together.
Working with their planner, Jing Jing from Silenttea Events, Yujing chose a soft, fresh color palette of blue, yellow, and white, a lovely change from the usual pink tones. The buttery yellow warmed the sunlight pouring into the chapel, while a sky-blue aisle runner with delicate white waves added a dreamy, ethereal touch as Yujing made her way down the aisle.
Every detail was designed to feel light, uplifting, and timeless, just like their love.
