their love story
Julia and Jon’s love story has all the makings of a modern romance—a chance meeting at a Phuket gym during the pandemic, an instant connection, and a breathtaking helicopter ride to the top of a glacier where Jon asked Julia to be his forever. From that moment, they both knew their love story would be anything but ordinary.
the destination: phuket
When it came time to choose a wedding destination, there was no question: Phuket was where it all began. For Jon, a longtime island resident, and Julia, who found herself unexpectedly living there during COVID, the island held deep meaning. Perched on the clifftop terrace of Sri Panwa, the ceremony felt almost ethereal. Guests were surrounded by a 360-degree view of the Andaman Sea, the horizon melting into shades of blue.
the vision: understated elegance
With a crisp white-and-green palette, the couple embraced understated elegance. Phuket Romance brought their vision to life—a day that was classic, timeless, and filled with the beauty and energy of the place that brought them together. As Julia walked down the aisle, the soft ocean breeze carried the scent of fresh white blooms from Wildflower Forest Thailand, their delicate greenery adding a touch of organic charm. The vows were deeply personal—heartfelt, flawless yet spontaneous—and witnessed by Jon’s sister as best [wo]man, with her daughter, the couple’s niece, proudly carrying the rings.
As the sun set, guests gathered for a dinner reception surrounded by blooms and greenery, both hanging from the ceiling and adorning the tables. The menu offered a perfect balance of Thai classics and international favorites, giving guests a taste of the couple’s home.
getting ready
Champagne in hand, swathed in silk and lace, Julia toasted with her besties as they prepped for the day ahead. They were all smiles as they helped her put the finishing touches on her look.
the fashion
The bridal party mirrored the refined yet relaxed atmosphere: bridesmaids in flowing sage satin that caught the sunlight and groomsmen in modern blue pinstripe suits. Jon’s choice of a navy suit from Phuket’s own Dule’ paired perfectly with Julia’s Milla Nova gown—a fitted silhouette that softened into a graceful flare, her hair swept into a low romantic updo, and her makeup glowing and natural.
a choreographed first dance
After dinner, the mirrored dance floor came alive beneath cascading strip lights that created a dazzling, star-like effect. Julia & Jon opened the evening’s dancing with a choreographed performance to “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims—a song Julia had chosen early in their relationship. Weeks of practice with a professional choreographer paid off, with many guests calling it the best first dance they had ever seen. Adding to the magic, the live band was the same one that had performed during one of the couple’s most memorable early dates, making the night feel beautifully full circle.
the favors
One of the couple’s sweetest gestures came in the form of wedding favors: each guest received a unique, personalized gift chosen specifically for them—a thoughtful reflection of the couple’s love for the people who had traveled from Canada, Ukraine, and across the globe to celebrate.
the cake
Using a literal sword, the couple cut into a lovely three-tiered white wedding cake. The base and top tier were decorated in delicate sugar pearl details, and the middle tier featured a mirrored monogram.
words of wisdom from the happy couple
Let the location inspire you, but don’t overcomplicate it. The most important thing is sharing the moment with the people who matter most.
