a sunset elopement
With help from Mad Bash Group, Brittany D’Annunzio and Brendan Donohue eloped in their Vancouver apartment at sunset, then hiked up a mountain to exchange vows and take photos. Later, they returned to their hometown of Toronto to host the reception—and they wanted it to have a fun and informal vibe!
the first look
The couple had their first look and portraits taken at Magwood Park in Toronto’s west end before heading to their reception at The Symes—a restored art deco venue in the city’s Junction neighborhood known for its “blank canvas” versatility.
the vision: modern sunset
As a nod to their ceremony, a sunset theme was woven throughout the evening, beginning with a vibrant color palette of yellow, peach, orange, light pink, and lavender and Ikebana-style arrangements by Flower Treasures. From the sunset-inspired backdrop to the colorful dance floor, guests felt the warmth radiating through the space from the moment they arrived.
the fashion
Brittany wore a chic yet understated gown with off-the-shoulder draping for the intimate affair, while Brendan sported a classic black suit. While they didn't have a wedding party, per se, they did ask their guests to rock the sunset color palette for the reception. We are also mildly obsessed with Brittany's hot pink bow shoes!!!
the escort display
A major focal point of the reception was a bold, funky sunset installation that doubled as both a seating chart and photo backdrop. Guests’ names and table assignments were written in white, anchored by a 3-dimensional sunburst at the base.
custom details
Brittany and Brendan’s wedding design featured plenty of playful printed details. Wine glass tags served as unique place card alternatives, and the couple created a custom illustration of their rescue dog, printed on matchboxes as adorable take-home favors.
