the venue
For Brekyn and Rob, the vision was clear from the beginning: celebrate their love surrounded by their closest people, immersed in the natural beauty of Arizona, and dance under the stars. With many of their guests traveling from out of town, creating a weekend-long experience where everyone could relax, connect, and stay together was a top priority. They found their perfect setting at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, a hidden gem nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the Salt River and soaring canyon walls. The serene, private property offered breathtaking views and rustic charm. The couple enjoyed a weekend of relaxed gatherings, outdoor adventures, and heartfelt moments.
getting ready
The wedding party were all able to stay in cabins on-site at Saguaro Lake Ranch all weekend, so the big day began with breakfast at the lodge. Of course, Brekyn and Rob ate at different times and did not see each other until the aisle. Brekyn spent the morning with her bridesmaids, getting hair and makeup done, listening to her favorite music, and sipping on mimosas with her favorite girls. Rob spent the morning throwing the football around with his groomsmen, playing guitar on the cabin patio, and soaking in the wedding day vibes up until getting ready for the big moment. The Dawne wedding team spent the morning getting the venue picture-perfect for the big day, and they did not miss a single detail.
the vibe: laid-back desert romance
Planned and designed by Dawne Events, the ceremony took place as golden light swept across the desert landscape, leading into a riverside dinner where the couple shared in the tradition of cake cutting and pouring a dazzling champagne tower. At the bar, each drink was paired with a charming Polaroid-sized photo of the couple, a personal touch guests adored. As night fell, the stars took over, music filled the air, and the newlyweds danced with their guests long into the evening. It was the kind of celebration that lingers long after the last song ends.
Guests started to arrive, everyone found their seats, and Brekyn’s dad and sister began to play the processional song. Their close friend officiated the wedding and shook Rob’s hand as he got to the end of the aisle, and then the wedding party began down the aisle. After a long pause and everyone coming to their feet, Brekyn started down the aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband and exchange vows. Both Brekyn and Rob shared their love for each other and their deep vows to the marriage that lay ahead of them. “I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Swanson!” followed by a kiss and a walk back down the aisle, and the two were married!
A lovely cocktail hour followed the ceremony, where drinks, chips, and salsa were served (the groom's favorite). After getting some photos done by their incredible photographer, Nikki Baker, listening to the oh-so-talented live band, and catching up with out-of-town family and friends, the couple made their grand entrance.
the fashion
Brekyn wore a simple yet chic crepe mermaid gown for the wedding and paired the understated look with a lace-trimmed mantilla-style veil. In multiple shades of green satin, the bridesmaids' dresses complemented the natural surroundings beautifully. Rob wore a daring deep navy suit for the occasion. Later that night, Brekyn changed into a beaded mini dress to dance the night away.
a choreographed first dance
They preceded dinner with a choreographed first dance to “Joy of My Life,” by Chris Stapleton. Rob danced with his mom, and Brekyn danced with both of her parents, and then dinner was served.
good food and good drinks
Their food of choice was barbecue, so a local company, “Big Nate’s BBQ,” of course, had to cater the wedding. They still receive so many compliments about their wedding food and are so happy they kept it simple and delicious for their guests. Pizza was served as everyone settled down, and the wedding party made their way up to the cabins, where a bonfire was lit, and pizza and drinks were enjoyed.
ditching the cake
The couple decided to forego the idea of a wedding cake, and each guest received a personal pie from a local pie shop following dinner—another big hit! The live band took it from here with all of the party songs, and the dance floor was absolutely packed until the band had to pack up.
