their love story
We met the day after the gym reopened from COVID. We ended up being the only two in the gym that day. We talked and went on a date the next day, and the rest is history! He proposed in Cabo—a complete surprise. I was told we were doing new family photos, which we do every year, so I didn’t think anything of it. Before we headed down to the beach, Zack disappeared, and my sister gave me a box with a letter in it and a white outfit. The letter mentioned to put the dress on and come down to the beach to begin the rest of our lives. When I got to the beach, all of our family and friends had travelled all the way to Mexico and were waiting, as well as Zack surrounded by white roses on the beach. It was so romantic and special. Apparently, Zack had been planning for months!
the vision: italy in mexico
I really wanted Italy in Mexico vibes. I knew a cliff was necessary, and the Waldorf was the perfect place for that. I wanted a mix of flowers and colors: white, green, plum, etc. I wanted flowers that still screamed wedding and elegance but also fun and not just all white.
The couple worked closely with Events by Bliss, who brought their vision to life. Using the beachfront cliff as the backdrop for their ceremony, Cristina G Florals framed the view with two dramatic floral pillars in deep plum, ivory, green, and fuchsia. Then, guests made their way through the unique rock formation to behold yet another incredible view of the coastline. There, they sipped drinks and dined on local fare as they watched the sun set on the horizon.
getting ready
The bride took in the tropical rays on the balcony of her bridal suite before slipping into her breathtaking lace dress that almost didn't happen. You read that right; she almost didn't even try it on!
the fashion
After trying on 20 dresses, I found a dress hanging on the end of a rack, and I was trying it on as a palate cleanser, if you will. I was joking with the person assisting me to put on the dress that I was trying it on as a joke. Although the moment they zipped me up in it, I just KNEW. It was shocking and not at all what I thought I would wear, but it was my favorite decision, beyond choosing my husband. My reception/party dress was more what I thought I would wear for the ceremony in a long version, but both dresses were so different, and I loved that I could have two different looks. Our guests were black tie but encouraged women to dress in color and fun silhouettes—they all followed suit perfectly!
custom escort cards
We featured hand-blown glass hearts, a traditional Mexican symbol, as unique name tags for our guests. Each one included a brief description of its cultural significance in Mexico. It was a meaningful touch that added a fun flair to the tables.
the menu
The appetizers were a true highlight of the evening! Crispy cheese and lobster balls, succulent shrimp with classic cocktail sauce, and savory tuna served atop crisp crackers. Dinner featured an immaculate three-course meal: a rich and flavorful clam soup to start, followed by a perfectly cooked Wagyu steak paired with fresh lobster. We ended on a sweet note with Waldorf’s famous red velvet cake, an unforgettable finish!
the cake
Instead of a traditional cake-cutting ceremony and then asking their guests to be seated for dessert, the couple had the cake wheeled out onto the dance floor to keep the party going! The three-tiered classic wedding cake was decorated in sugar pearls as a nod to the coastal destination and a custom topper. Then, the night sky was set alight with the warm glow of fireworks.
