Their Love Story
Some love stories begin with a quote from "Miss Congeniality" and a FaceTime connection during the height of a global pandemic. For Lauren McLemore and Grant Posey, that unconventional beginning started on Bumble in March 2020. Lauren was drawn to Grant's bio featuring a line from the beloved romantic comedy. They had mutual friends from high school, growing up just 40 minutes apart, but it took a dating app to bring them together. What began with daily FaceTime calls during lockdown quickly blossomed into something so much more real. When they finally met in person weeks later, Grant ran out to greet her and kissed her before even saying a single word. That spontaneous moment set the tone for a love story that would culminate in an extraordinary wedding day, a celebration that perfectly captured their journey together.
The proposal itself was quintessentially Grant, spontaneous and heartfelt. Following brunch on the day after Christmas with his parents at their new Argenta home, he suggested a family photo in front of the plaza's grand Christmas tree. "He's never one to suggest a photo, so I knew something was up," Lauren recalls. What his parents didn't know, and what makes the video so precious, is that Grant had been carrying the ring in his pocket. Waiting for the right moment. "It turns out, there was no plan. He'd just been holding the ring in his pocket, waiting for what felt like the right moment."
The Destination: Argenta
The North Little Rock, Arkansas, neighborhood of Argenta holds special meaning for this couple. It's where Lauren moved when Grant left for Army basic training, where they spent a precious summer together during his injury leave, and ultimately, where Grant's parents would relocate. So when it came time to choose a wedding venue, the decision was clear. "We knew we wanted to be in Argenta," Lauren shares. The discovery that the historic E.O. Manees House had acquired the church across the street, called The Sanctuary at Argenta, was the perfect solution.
The Vision: Southern Charm Meets European Summer
With Ramsey & Co orchestrating every detail, Lauren and Grant's vision came to life with a sophisticated blend of Southern charm honoring their Arkansas roots, paired with the colors and flavors of a European summer. "I wanted it to feel like a big family backyard dinner party, comfortable and relaxed while still being refined and elegant," Lauren explains. The design drew inspiration from Lauren's childhood memories of a towering magnolia tree in her front yard. She envisioned the reception unfolding beneath the magnificent magnolias at E.O. Manees House, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and grand. A Perfect Bloom brought this vision to life with romantic florals in white, pink, and peach roses accented by delicate blue delphinium and Italian ruscus that evoked European gardens. Special meaning was woven throughout. Lauren carried lilies in her bouquet, honoring her mother, who had carried the same flowers on her own wedding day.
The ceremony at The Sanctuary at Argenta was officiated by Carroll Posey, creating an especially personal touch. As guests transitioned across the street to E.O. Manees House for cocktail hour, they were greeted by the sounds of a jazz band trio on the porch, one of Lauren's favorite details that established the sophisticated yet relaxed ambiance she envisioned.
the fashion
The day began with hair and makeup at E.O. Manees House, courtesy of Glam by Emmaleigh and Jessica Humerick. Lauren wore a stunning Madison James gown from Low's Bridal, while Grant looked dashing in his Men's Wearhouse tuxedo. Photographer Stephanie Parsley and videographer Mary Grace Parsley captured every precious moment, starting with a first look that set the tone for the emotional day ahead.
the menu
As passionate home cooks with a love for Mediterranean cuisine, Lauren and Grant knew exactly how they wanted to welcome their guests. Vibrant Occasions Catering delivered a stunning menu that transported guests to sun-drenched European shores. Cocktail hour featured watermelon feta bites with pomegranate molasses and roasted muhammara with pomegranate served on toasted pita. The brightest and freshest flavors, perfect for a May celebration. The dinner buffet continued the Mediterranean journey with grilled Greek chicken kebabs marinated in olive oil, lemon, garlic, oregano, and yogurt, alongside spicy Lebanese potatoes and herb-roasted vegetables. A crisp Greek salad with balsamic vinaigrette tied the meal together, while freshly baked rolls from the caterer completed the feast.
a sweet surprise
Mid-reception, as the sun began its descent, Loblolly Creamery arrived with a sweet surprise that perfectly captured the joy of summer. "What says summer like an ice cream cone at sunset?" Lauren muses.
the cake
Heartfelt toasts from friends gave way to the traditional garter and bouquet toss, followed by the cake cutting as the sun painted the Arkansas sky in shades of gold and pink. For the cake, The One by Dee created an elegant, traditional white confection that may have converted these self-proclaimed non-cake people. "It was so delicious, it might've turned us into cake people," Lauren admits.
tips, tricks, and chicken?
Like any great wedding day, it's often the unplanned moments that become the most treasured memories. "My mom's best friend put together a beautiful breakfast spread for us while we were getting ready, but most of us were too nervous to eat," Lauren reveals. By the time pre-ceremony photos rolled around, hunger struck. Enter Grant's resourcefulness: he DoorDashed Chick-fil-A and kept chicken nuggets in his pocket all day, "handing them out to the girls between photos, LOL."
words of wisdom from the happy couple
For couples planning their own celebrations, Lauren offers practical advice born from experience: "Work with a great planner and be specific and upfront about your budget from the beginning!" She emphasizes how invaluable Ramsey & Co was in making their vision a reality. "They usually have tons of recommendations and connections and can advocate and negotiate on your behalf. We are so thankful for the magic our planner worked for us budget-wise." Her second tip? Choose venues that are already beautiful. "It is costly to transform a space, so try to pick a venue that is beautiful and your style bare-bones. Any florals and rentals we chose were really only to elevate and accent a space we already loved as-is."
