their love story
Austin and McKenzie first met while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at a bar. “That night sparked something special,” the couple recalled. Two years later, Austin proposed at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, surrounded by their closest friends. “It was the perfect blend of laughter, love, and a little bit of Irish luck,” McKenzie wrote.
the vision: natural beauty
Deeply inspired by nature and the peaceful beauty of the East Tennessee mountains, Austin and McKenzie’s garden party wedding was a celebration of color, connection, and the Smoky Mountains. Held at the secluded Nichols Heir venue, set on 100 acres of private forest, the couple chose a soft floral palette that allowed the surrounding landscape to shine. “It was the perfect blend of wild and refined, just like we imagined,” they shared. Designed and orchestrated by EVERLY + Co., all four spaces of the venue were used to create distinct, intentionally styled moments throughout the day.
From the meadow floral altar to the delicate and whimsical centerpieces, Wither and Bloom Designs captured the essence of the garden and brought the ivory and barely-there blush color palette to life. The ceremony incorporated Scottish traditions, including a handfasting ritual to symbolize the binding of their lives. During dinner, the couple honored the Scottish quaich tradition with a ceremonial drink representing the joining of their families—“a beautiful sense of history and connection,” as they described it.
custom bars
Oversized woven lanterns, a checkered dance floor, and black-and-white statement decor created a striking contrast against the lush green surroundings.
Custom elements like these bars add so much to a celebration, and more and more rental companies are offering these types of customizations. From custom colors to monograms, the
possibilities are endless! This couple completed the look with illustrated signature cocktail signs and swizzle sticks.
the fashion
Bridesmaids wore blush-printed gowns with delicate details and pearl accents, while McKenzie’s look echoed the softness of the day through floating layers of tulle, sheer sleeves, and romantic lace.
the escort display
Personal touches included a guitar guestbook and a record-themed seating chart, which led guests to the Glass House for the reception. Continuing with the musical theme, the couple invited their guests to sign a guitar instead of a traditional guest book.
the cake
Opting to keep the cake simple, the couple decided on a tall single-tier cake decorated in traditional buttercream frosting. You can never go wrong with a classic! Plus, we love that even though the cake had a minimalist design, it still had its own moment with a dedicated table and floral installation.
